I can see this going both ways...

I agree with Homie that Darcy might be locking down the hatches because with injuries this NHL quality depth is going to be key.. but at the same time.. with the whole Gerbe/Ellis/Hecht/Leino/McMuscle/Scott thing they have going on rotating around their bottom 6 it is not good to find a niche in lines.

I think Darcy is waiting for a wowing deal to be placed on his table for a D-man too... whether it be in the next 10 days or on April 3rd.. i don't know.

Unless we get something back that's going to make our roster better NOW, it's probably better not to make a deal just yet
If we trade Leopold or Sekera, it will weaken us and strengthen our competition
What if we trade one of them & then ehrhoff were to get hurt,
Now our defense looks weak

I certainly wouldn't trade within our conference unless the deal is amazing... I'm not helping out Philly or anyone else we are in competition with...

I think it's prob better to wait till the deadline,
We keep our depth, and it's not like we won't be able to trade a defenseman at the deadline if we want... They get notoriously overpaid for at that time so we'll still get a good return

Two exceptions...
1) we get a good deal for Brennan
-if we are just having him sitting in the box he's not helping us or his trade value
2) Detroit or an other team out West makes us an offer that'll help us now
-Brennan or Leopold for someone like Darren Helm might seem reasonable... It'd give us a scrappy guy for our 3rd/4th line who can chip in a little offensively and solid on faceoffs... He actually reminds me of Ott... If Detroit's calling (and I'm sure they are), that's the guy I WANT... But if they're just offering a 2nd rounder, pass

Wow, that gives us THREE potential very good scoring lines

But what does Calgary want for him?
I'd find it tough to give up a lot (even if it's just prospects) for a guy that's likely a "rental" for this season

And as a guy who dislikes Myers, you gotta be with me that the most immediate need on our team is to strengthen our defense

We just need more scoring, a super star sniper would be great. I know they lost last night be watching the Pens roll out the Crosby line then the Geno line made me a bit envious so I switched over to the Rags game and saw the Richards, Nash, Gaborik line and you realize unless Miller stands on his head we don't really have a chance against those teams in a 7 game series.

Cannot wait to get to PNC Arena tonight and happy we are starting Enroth - 1st 10 min will be important tonight - Hurricanes have sucked the 1st 2 games - think they will come out flying - if we get through that - we should be in good shape to take advantage of the weaker D and poor goaltending they have at the moment....

Anything can happen in a 7 game series... Our first line is only gonna get better so.. you never know.. I think Myers finding his game could be the best thing to happen to this team.. to do anything this year.. We need him to step up!

I disagree. If 1 of those 2 lines are coming at you every 45 seconds and just running all over your team it will be hard to build momentum and will wear down your players, and kill any momentum.

Pretty sure that's what we all want or we would not be a bunch of hockey geeks talking on a rumor site in which the rumors are never right! The question was asked what we need and the bottom line is we need more pucks in the net.
