Iginla has to be the worst player when it comes to shootouts in the entire league. no joke. stempniak, glencross and cammy didnt do much better, but Iginla does that same shot every single chance he gets. its embarrassing really. he should be left off the shooters list until they hit at least the 5th round. am i over-reacting? i dont think so. - wakeupguy666
No, you aren't over-reacting. Iggy is $hit in the shoot-outs. Give Sven a chance. I'm sure the shootout will be Cammy Tangs Hudler when he's back. Maybe mix in some Sven/Cervenka. This Stempniak, Iggy, Glen X stuff is crap. Good players, bad shooters. |

I was literally screaming at my TV last night, pleading with Hartley to throw Baertschi out there...
I know he's a new coach and everyone comes in with a blank slate, but in the shootout you need to send your danglers out not the guys who score off deflections and 1-timers.

We've been through 4 coaches and they all put the same people out there haha. WTF. Is ken king making the shoot out list? Glencross? That guy hasn't made a move in his life. |

Well, I found myself shaking my head after this one but I am willing to give Hartley some slack. He needed to see what these guys do. Hartley is also a big stats guy, why he has Snow doing the puck analyses. GlenX has the best shooting percentage of any Flame player last year & so far this year. But wow, talk about lack of creativity from everyone but Tanguay. It's like these guys were afraid to try a move, blow it & look stupid in front of the new coach. I dont think Hartley is a stupid as Butter & do the same thing over & over. Personally, I think they brought in skill guys like Hudler & Cerevenka & would have used those guys if they were in the lineup. I would have put in guys like Backlund & Sven who are in game shape & not afraid to try some moves. I think we are starting to see first hand that a new coach in a short season is a huge disadvantage. Now the next 2 games are must must wins against the Oilers & Colorado at home. We have to win those just to get to .500.
Cammi better pick up the pace, he sucked. Comeau sucked. Tanguay is playing great, word is he plays his best hockey for Hartley coached teams. |

Wow, good game last night, I watched the 3rd period and boy if it didn't look like a playoff game.
It's a shame Calgary couldn't pull out a win with as hard as they played but at least they got a point out of it. I was extremely impressed by the high energy of every line as well as the puck movement. They looked like they were in mid-season form only a few games in.
Kipper didn't look real hot in the shoot out unfortunately. |

Kipper held them in there long enough to win but the shooters didn't get it done. Interesting that the guys who made a move scored while the guys who shot didn't. I was disappointed Backlund didn't get a chance. He scored a goal and was probably feeling pretty good about himself. |

On a positive note, the Flames have gotten better with each game. Add in Hudler and Cervenka and we'll know what he have with this team shortly. |

Personally I think the Flames looked very good last night.(based on the 3rd period) I thought they easily out played the 'Nucks in every facet of the game aside from the shoot out. |

I agree, although we must also consider that the Canucks looked abnormally sloppy. Teams arent currently playing to their potential right now, and thats why Ive been expressing that we should all be holding off judgment until atleast closer to the 15game mark. |

I hate the shootout. What a stupid way to end a game. Both goalies played well and to put the loss on either of them is BS. I'd love to see a 3 point system implemented, could you imagine how exciting the last few minutes of the game would have been instead of just playing to get to OT.
Looking forward to Saturday to see what Hudler and Cervenka bring. I know this will sound homer but I really have been more impressed with the Flames play through the first three games than dissapointed. I realize that 1 point in 3 games isn't going to get them anywhere but they really haven't been out played in these games except for a few minutes here and there. |

They're definitely playing a more exciting style. Now a couple wins would be nice. |

Do they not do shoot-out drills in practice? Would he not already have an idea what guys are capable of?
As far as being afraid of looking stupid... I think Stempniak's logo seeking missile did a better job of that than losing the handle on a deke would have done.
I agree that Tanguay looks awesome out there, and Cammy's definitely struggling. If I'm Hartley I'm doing a lot of video review with Cammy today... comparing his play last night with how he was playing back during his first stint with the Flames. |

I have no problem with the Kassian goal, that move was just sick.
He definitely went for the poke-check too early on Burrows though. |

In all fairness, it was a short training camp & not a lot of time between games. I dont like his choices either on the shoot out. I tend to be the type of I want to see it for my self before judging kind of person myself. So I am cutting him some slack. But these points are too important to get extended education of who sucks in the shoot out & who doesnt. I would hope next shoot out Hartley goes with skill & not by seniority. |

Exactly my thoughts.....all of them shot the puck except Tangs and he scores.
The shoot out wasn't Kippers fault this time thats for sure.
Hope to see the guys with hands get more of a chance next time. |

Sadly I have to watch every Canuck game and Burrows does that same move on every shootout. I am not even exaggerating when I say "every". I just don't get how a goalie doesn't know that.
The Kassian move was solid.
The Sedin one was similar to that of the Flames shooters....horrible. |
