I think you're right. Anyone calling any team a lock for the playoffs at this point is either delusional or completely clueless... A couple of key injuries can drastically change the outcome of a short season for virtually any team in the league.

It really is a complete crapshoot in a 48 game schedule.

Yet so much fun...... and you only have to suck for 48 games to have a good shot a stud draft pick!

Although I wouldnt necessarily say a "crap shoot"...but yeah, I agree.

Team depth will be a large part in any success this year...playing a condensed schedule where every game matter will certainly take its toll.

Now regarding the Canucks tonight. They should be the favorites in tonights bout, hence more pressure on them. I see Calgary coming out of this one with a W as Schneider struggles to find his groove.

If I were to put money on this game...I would say this is the difference maker...1-2 weak goals and a team collapse.

Who's gonna take that!?!

25 virtual dollars.

I don't know about that. Calgary is usually the remedy struggling teams need to right the ship..

Today's society is so much against the optimist I tells ya. It's easier for one to be negative in life because more often than not you cannot let yourself down if you always expect the worse!

And further, it may be harder to appreciate the good times if you were expecting bad results, as you might convince yourself that it will be short lived anyways.

True statement. I hope you're right, but blind faith can bite you in the A S S!

I can tell you what needs to be done in order to win this game. Hartley needs to bench Butler (which I think might have happened), and limit Bouwmeester's ice time to 18 minutes. Simple, game won.

Yeah Butler and Jones are the odd men out. Brodie up to second pairing with Wideman

Would still rather Comeau sit than Jones.

And if they send Horak down when Hudler and Cervenka come back I will be steamin`willy beamin

It's like you don't see the skill element involved in craps

While I admit there are still favourites and underdogs, even a team like St Louis would feel it if Oshie and Backes both went down to injury...

In a compressed schedule crazy things can happen.

Let`s get Brunner......

I don`t know why i`m laughing........trade Babchuck and Butler for Brunner.

P.S. Only people with the last name starting with `B`are allowed in this deal.

Lets hope we have lots of smiley faces at 11 pm tonight!

And for the record, because some people are being mean to me , I would love the Flames to be a winning team ( I went to every game in '04) but this is one year where mediocrity is suicide!

Either be good enough to make the playoffs comfortably or be awful and get lots of balls in the lottery. This draft is money and if we are going to suck, sucking for only 48 games is a small pill to swallow.

Seth Jones is going to be a game changer to whoever gets him!

And just like that Horak gets sent to Abbottsford......seriously WTF?! This is ridiculous. If the Flames want to even think about having a decent future a guy like Horak needs his development. The fact that they can`t even find some space for 4-5 young guys really pisses me off. I`ve seen enough of Stajan, Comeau, Jackman (god love him), Begin. Seriously. (frank) those guys. Bury them in the AHL. Put them in the press box. This is embarrassing.
