Did you watch the game last night? Did you see the shift where Mcclement Orr and Brown got caught out for too long and then took an icing call which I beleive led to a penalty which then led to a goal?
- xxCHRISTOFIRExx

3 games in a row the Leafs have been able to answer the bell physically. Those top 3 lines and D'men are skating into traffic much more than they were last year. That has a lot to do with the presence of Orr and Brown - and the Leafs ability to match teams physically this year. They're doing their job.

Colton Orr could beat up Tie Domi

Third line isn't very threatening offensively anymore

Maybe, unless Tie landed one on the button, then down goes Orr.

That was one really long fight last night. Neither one of those two could have thrown another punch if they tried.

Great fight. He was worth the roster spot for that alone IMO.

According to the website, Connolly is being called up and McClement is being given the A

They would probably implode and cause a space/time rift resulting in a black hole.

As the Law eluded to....... the presence of Orr and even Brown in the line up allows the smaller players to play a few inches taller.

And they are not liabilities on the ice. As long as they don't allow the other team to score, they are doing their job.

Ya but wasn't that preceded by the shift from the 3rd line, then the shift by 2nd line?

Actually you can trace it all back to the opening face off.

- faceto27

Ya, you're right it is a bit of a stretch to trace it back but a bad 4th line can be a hinderance. I just don't think Orr brown and Steckel is that great. I would prefer to see Frattin brought in and keep Mcclement there, he's looked great on the 4th line.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like it's Connolly.

That roster hasn't changed since the beginning of the season, I checked it three days ago and Connolly was still on it, doesn't mean he might not get called up but don't go by it.

edit: McClement was the 3rd alternate captain from the beginning as well.

Not surprised about Connolly, but McClement being given the A, must speak volumes of the type of character he is in the change room. Interesting, 3 games in.

I agree with that, but I think putting Steckel out there with them renders that line useless. Having Mcclement there keeps that line as a high functioning line.

But what about McClement and the A? Was that there all along too? First time I checked the website was today.

This sucks. But I think its related to the point that someone made last night - apparently Frattin has only 3 NHL games left until he needs to clear waivers to return to the AHL. If they bring him up, he pretty much has to stay the rest of the season, and they would have to send someone else through waivers for the spot when Lupul returns.

A good 4th line shift is one where they don't get scored on or take a penalty and set the tone physically. A great one is where they score a goal or draw a penalty. So, yeah, I agree. Will they get scored on and take penalties? Of course, but so do all the other lines.

According to The Fourth Period, the LAKings are interested in Gunnarsson and/or Franson. Leafs said no to a Bernier deal involving them about 3-4 weeks ago
