Anyone catch Leafs Talk last night, with andy frost
He was having a love affair with Connolly.. saying he should be the one called up.
"Being sent down, could be the kick in the butt, he needed"

Man, I really wish I could get a hold of Frost's dealer.

No love for Fratts.

Sooooooooooooooooo... The goalie is not part of the team, by that statement.

I know it has been almost 10 years, since we have seen such a thing
"Hot Goalie"

Cujo had nice eyes... Eagle, you needed a drink or two, to soften up the look.

So a gay joke... Impressive.

Leafs should have traded him??...let him walk in the summer??
- Fruitcakenipple

I would have waited past three games into the season after a guy missed a bunch of games the season before to sign him until he's, what, 34? That's a start.

Trade or re-sign depends where we are at the standings come deadline. If we're out of a playoff spot then I would move him at the deadline as a rental, we could have got a good amount for him if he didn't get injured (which, obviously, now is a moot point).

Barring that try to sign him leading up to the deadline, if he won't re-sign and it looks like he's going to walk then you trade him. It's not rocket science, that's what half the GMs in the league do with pending UFAs.

Too many issues with signing him so soon: you don't know if he's going to play as well as he did last season so you're giving him value based off of last season that he may never return to, you're signing a guy with a history of injuries (there, didn't say "injury prone") until he's 34 years old and you could be spending another year or two out of the playoffs so it's not like he's going to "put you over the top" to get you in the playoffs or get you a Cup.

What if he plays as well or better this season? You'd end up having to pay more than what he just got.

Fact based argument... And the only fact that counts
The final score.

You need to take your Maple Leaf blinders off. Just because the Leafs run into a hot goalie, and outplay the rest of the sabres... does not mean, the leafs deserve to win.

The goalie is part of the hockey team. And most think, the most important part. Their goalie is better than ours. Quite better. He outplayed The leafs... Therefore the sabres deserved to win.

my favorite posters are the guys that come in with 20/20 hindsight perfect vision....oohhh he's injury prone - oooohh shouldn't have signed a contract. Get real - say it before it happens or don't say it at all - don't come in here after the fact and act like you're so damn clever.
- BlowMonkey

Well lots of people (myself included) were saying that they thought the term was too long and didn't understand why it came like three days into the season. So, yeah, it's not a hindsight thing, people didn't like the deal from the outset.

I don't mind the money, the amount of money isn't bad assuming he can live up to a similar level of play as he had last year. The term and the fact that Nonis didn't even give him a month of games or something to see if he's even capable of being close to the player he was last year.

Were you claiming he shouldn't have been signed because he's "injury prone" - I suspect not....if so point me to the posts. The injury prone thing is bs.

Sorry everyone.. So sorry. My bad. Shame on me.

To be fair, no one expected a 5 year extension so early in the season...

its a weird season though. Trade deadline is only two months away. Everything is accelerated this season.

First of all the odds him having another career year of playing at over a PPG pace are pretty low.

Secondly if that did happen then the additional money you have to spend on a guy who is a proven PPG player would be worth it because you know what you have.

Every contract is a gamble, obviously, I just think the odds are stacked much more against a guy coming off a career year in repeating that.

Bottom line is if the Habs or Canucks or whoever signed a guy who was 29 and hasn't played a full season in his career to a five year contract extension two games into the season and then he got hurt everyone here would be chirping them for being so stupid. Somehow when it's the Leafs, though, it's still a good deal. I don't get it.

Lupul signed that deal well before tonight's game / injury. My point is valid.

Edit: errr last night's

- BlowMonkey

A lot of people were upset about the signing... so.. point not valid.

Hmmm, the Leafs will get blown out by Buffalo you said, nope, the Leafs will get blown out by the Pens, you said, ahh no.

Wanna try for the Islanders tonight? I still hold to my prediction that the Leafs will not finish where many of you are hoping they will, accept it now and you won't be disappointed when it happens.

Definitely wouldn't be disappointed with the playoffs.

And for some reason, I believe it'll be a pretty interesting deadline this time around.

Definitely. There will be so many teams that will still be in it. Couple that with the fact that as of right now, the UFA pool at the end of this season will be huge.
