I see Lupul Signs and Carlysle immediately demotes him to the 3rd line.

Hmmmm Fire Carlysle.

I'd expect that. Fraser and him have both been a little shaky, but if you can send one down and not lose them, you have to do it
- lumlums

also would you rather

a: have holzer getting minutes in the AHL over sitting in the press box

or

b: have fraser getting minutes in the AHL over sitting in the press box

?

if the ultimate position for the guy who stays is press box hero choose the guy who you arent developing.

Who says the senators want to trade him though? We are just assuming trades, senators have had enough problems with goalies, i doubt they want to trade any of them
- Mapleleafs_91

All I said was, how can he not be good, he is a big dude, just stay still and he should have a .920 save %

I'm hoping we keep within two. 4-2 Pens with an empty netter and i'm happy. Oh being a Leafs fan eh?

Kessel finished top 6 in NHL scoring last year with no number 1 center. And he is a lock for 30+ goals every year. You are looking at Strome, a 1st, and another top prospect for him. Yeah the Islanders won't want to do that, but that's what it would take to move Phil. He isn't going anywhere, he is a perfect fit for the leafs anyways.
- Allstarzz

I agree with all this, especially the part that Kessel is a perfect fit for the leafs.
He is exactly what the leafs needs to be just good enough to stay out of last place, but not good enough to get into the playoffs.

with him, we are probably not going to get a #1 center we need

I choose Fraser to stay. I think that he's a little better now, but Holzer is younger and I think has a little more upside.

I agree with mixing the lines to find some kind of spark but MacArthur sucked last year and this year so far in my POV. why the A on his jersey and why him getting to play on the top line? I'd give Kadri a shot at center before him playing wing on the top line.

I have no problems with RC mixing the lines up, those top two lines have been the same for the past 2+ seasons, and look how well the team did. I just hope that ice time is spread out a little more evenly between lines 1-3.

Trade Idea

To NYI:

Phil Kessel
Stuart Percy

To Tor:

Nino niederreiter
Ryan Strome

I think this would work for both teams, but Nonis would need ownership approval to trade our best player and tank this year. It would help us get closer to one of Jones, Drouin, or Mackinnon at the 2013 draft though.

- Holy_Makinaw99

I think the Isles would salivate at Tavares playin with Kessel. Not sure the Leafs would be interested though.

Exactly.

Mac isnt the core or future of this team. He shouldnt even be on our roster or cap spacee next season. Yet hes getting a shot at the first line and has been given an assistants role.

What gives?

In Strome we would be getting our #1 center and nino looks close to making the jump to the NHL. We've seen that we cant build around Kessel and we may have to trade him if he doesnt want to sign an extension. Also, with drafting Finn, Percy is expendable and NYI needs D.

We arent making the playoffs this year, we may as well get 2 elite prospects, tank for a high draft pick and continue the rebuild.

- Holy_Makinaw99

still the worst trade ever. Kessel AND Percy for 2 guys who've never cracked a lineup.

Oh, and Strome as a #1 center in the NHL is a bit of a reach.
