That one I dont get.
I can understand Stamkos having idolized Stevie Y, having mentors like St.Luois and Vinny and a team at least trying to win.
No clue what Tavares likes about the Isles which is why I question it. Though only he really knows how he feels. - systemtool
Loyalty. Morals, ect.
He seems like a guy who hates losing and quitting, and he wants to help them into the playoffs. Not be known as a guy who didnt get the job done. |

I'm not sure how I would feel. I get homesick quite easily.
I went to Florida with my 2 aunts and cousin for a week. And the last few days I was extremely homesick.
I miss my family and friends way too much. But, then again. When you're drafted, you're already away from your family and friends playing in Junior. .
So it's hard to say. - jbold
Money has a way of curing homesickness... Ive only been homesick once, i was 10 and i moved to Calgary to live with my aunt for the summer. Im pretty sure its something you would get over very quickly. |

Well, like I said.
Before you get drafted, you usually leave home to go play in Junior. |

Thats just it. How can a guy who hates losing and quitting be content with a team that does little to win and does nothing but quit and lose?
He isnt getting anything done on the Island except being hidden from the spotlight, having no linemates, or team mates for that matter, that are close to him in skill. Morals and Loyalty should have nothing to do with this. It was just circumstance the Islanders got him. 29 other teams would have loved to have him.
Im not saying Tavares isnt happy, or doesnt like it there. I just dont see why he would.

Not sure. Maybe it's the same reason Nash stayed in Columbus. He felt like he needed to bring them into the playoffs and wanted to help them. |

If you guys were the Leafs and in some alternate universe you got to pick any five players in the world to build a team with, who would those players be?
Mine would be
1) Seguin
2) Hamilton
3) Knight
4) Rask
5) Luongo
lol just kidding - Zezel
I hate how people keep bringing everything back to this and saying that we traded Kessel for Seguin, knight and Hamilton.
Without Kessel there's no way we'd have been selecting in 9th, and we could have maybe had Landeskog, Huberdeau, Strome or couturier... |

Imo the Leafs have a double-edged sword as far as being a destination for players, because when they are down, nobody wants to be in that fishbowl while the team is struggling. On the flipside, if/when Toronto is a strong contender again, a lot of players would love to be wearing the Maple Leaf winning it all. You can open restaurant chains in the city based on your name if you take a team to the semis in this town. I think that draw is a real thing for a lot of players, I'd say same goes for Montreal as well and other franchises. And the big towns have dumptrucks full of money too so that helps.
The Leafs just have to get to the point where they are clearly taking the next step, and clearly that's an advantage when pitching free agents. Let's say in an alternate universe, everything goes right for the Leafs this year, Kadri and Gardiner have star-making years, Kessel and Lupul are lights out, the goaltending is good, etc, and the make the playoffs, all of a sudden the Leafs' pitch to a guy like Perry sounds better than if they finished dead last again.

Damn, I thought they sent him back to the AHL.

Scrivens has never played on a Wednesday before and he's 3-0-1 on Thursday's, probably why he's playing tomorrow

They promised him a commitment to win. They failed to deliver and he asked for a trade. Cant see Tavares wanting to stay there beyond contract. Just my opinion though. |

this is what i am hoping for. to be honest, as much as i'd want perry, i think i would prefer getzlaf cause he fills more of a need then perry does. getz playing 1st line would be great. only problem, if that happens, where does kadri fit? we cant keep him playing 3rd line center, and we cant use his as a top 6 winger. its a very difficult thing to do, especially since burke signed grabo for 5 years (4 more left) |

Don't get me wrong, I like Kessel... but I hate giving so many good pieces to a division rival.
If only they would have agreed to a Kessel for Kaberle straight swap instead of getting (frank)ed up on who was giving a first overall to whom... |
