It's not always money but when the current team can now offer that extra year which for Perry and Getzlaf could mean an extra 7-8 million...... that's a lot to turn down.

Yes, Stamkos will run to the Leafs first chance he gets. Just like Rick Nash. And Joe Thornton. And Lindros. And Gretzky. And every other superstar player who "grew up loving the Leafs" and never signed here. Or when they did, they were damaged goods.

Yup, Toronto can be a great place to play for players who love the spot light. But for others, they would rather not. Also, Leaf nation can make life miserable for you if your not a fan favorite.

Im as die hard as any leafs fan but if i were in the NHL i would like to play for a California team or Florida.. Playing in Toronto once or twice a year would be enough for me. But if i ended up playing for Toronto i would be happy with that too

I can understand Stamkos having idolized Stevie Y, having mentors like St.Luois and Vinny and a team at least trying to win.

No clue what Tavares likes about the Isles which is why I question it. Though only he really knows how he feels.

I'm not sure how I would feel. I get homesick quite easily.

I went to Florida with my 2 aunts and cousin for a week. And the last few days I was extremely homesick.

I miss my family and friends way too much. But, then again. When you're drafted, you're already away from your family and friends playing in Junior. .

So it's hard to say.
