So maybe I'm reading between the lines here, but what you're saying is: Drink Heineken, get in the minors?

IMO, the most over rated beer. - systemtool
Fun fact about Heineken: those classic, green bottles that give it its trademarked image actually contribute to making a really poopty, skunky beer. |

My starting lineup of beers is as such.
LW - Heineken
Not great in a can, but solid against the glass, and if you're lucky enough to draught it you can give it time in the minors first.
C - Steigel
A can that basically looks like a WWII German propaganda poster. This has all the makings of a scary top line centre who will beat your french ass down.
RW - Faxe (White)
Unlike his older, 10% brother, who wasn't able to make it to the pros because of too many fighting-related suspensions, this lager strikes the right balance between skill and strength. Good at both ends of the ice
D - Lech
Underrated in a way that brings Carl Gunnarsson to mind. This 'poor-man's Stella' goes down incredibly smooth. But not to worry, it's got a rough side, clocking in at 500ml and 5.2%
D - Lowenbrau
Saavy vet who goes back 500 or so years since Bavaria made purity laws. Germans tried other such 'purification' laws over the years but in hindsight they really should have just stuck to the beer. The young lads look up to this guy.
G - Molson EX 750ml 5.5
This big burly bastard is your last line of defence. If nobody else on the team is present you just need to hold your nose and hope this guy does the job. - AngryWhiteMale
I would like to buy you a Lowenbrau, good sir. |

I've noticed a curious phenomenon in Leafland lately: the drastic under-valuing of Kessel in most trade scenarios.
Usually, we vastly overrate every guy who plays for us (let's be honest: fans of every team do this), but with Kessel, I think that an outsider would actually see him more positively than we do. I think all you can attribute it to is knee-jerk overreaction.
If Kessel were named "Player X" and played on some Western conference team that we rarely ever see, people around here would take a look at his stats and drool over the possibility of acquiring a player like him. - Leeman4Gilmour
I'd pretty much have to agree with all of this.
I'm not against Kessel moving, but I do think people are underestimating what he would return us. |

Cammellari begged to play for Toronto - he actually went to MLSEL offices on July 1st.
But Burkie figured we didn't need a #1 centre.
Sigh. - Atomic Wedgie
I thought Burkie laughed when he said the Habs were giving him $6M, and Leafs just had to match...

He's simply not very likable - I mean he doesn't seem to be. That alone would inspire a fan to shun him.

It is a Leaf phenomenon. Toronto has always chased away its top players. Who was the last Leaf star to retire as a Leaf?
And don't say Wendel..... he was only back for 20 games after being banished for years.
It all started back in the day when they traded Maholivich. Then Lanny, Sittler, Salming, etc. etc. etc. |

Scrivens +Franson
I'd include Scrivens because he's older, and I don't see him being that good in the NHL. Not even as a backup.
Think LA could use him though, he could come in and play a few games and put up some decent numbers on their team, I guess.
They're also in need of D. And I dont think losing Franson would be a big blow to the team.
I'd be comfortable with a Bernier-Reimer tandem instead of a Scrivens-Reimer tandem - jbold
I think thats a little much, scrivens is only 2 years older than bernier i believe? Has to be a fair trade for bernier, LA is winning that deal |

I compare him to Mogilny, loads of talent, but not the guy who carries the team and kicks it into another gear/compete level when needed. Thus not loved as much and the lower perceived value. |

Been to Holland myself.
They don't sell us the 'actual' Heineken. The stuff over there, esp in draught, was one of the most delicious beers I've tasted |

Don't see the big fuss over bernier having exceeding value when the guy demanded a trade out of there. And he has not shown anything special in the NHL for a long stint of games played continuously. |

If Burke signs Cammalleri, he has a guy who can feed pucks to Kessel, and we'd be debating whether or not it was worth doing the trade, and losing Nino Niederreiter or Brett Connolly. |

Yes, but you could also argue (perhaps not about the Leafs, but in general) that you are better off taking a non-sentimental view of your players. When they are done, get rid of them. |

It's just funny that people throw around proposals like Kessel for Nino Neiderreiter.
With all due respect, are you (frank)ing kidding me? Take a look at a guy like Ilya Kovlachuk, who had almost identical stats to Kessel last year, factor in that Kessel is 4 years younger, then ask yourself if New Jersey would send him our way for Kadri.
It's insanity. |
