Here is the Holmgren statement.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren gave an injury update on Flyers forward Scott Hartnell:

"Scott will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury. We will know more on this within a day or two as we await results of tests."

If they don't have the results of the tests, how can Holmgren proclaim Hartnell out indefinitely. Doesn't seem to jive.

There might be too much swelling for a MRI.

So on that note Hartnell's probably out 6-8 weeks, I'm guessing he fractured his foot or something along the lines of that

They'd have to make a deal to address his absence. You'd hope they could get a vet on the last year of a deal for a pick, but the other team will smell the desperation, so not likely.

Arnott? Knuble?

I would be fine with that, he brings leadership, he wins faceoffs and he's probably get you 10-15 goals at least

Maybe that's it. But MRI's are usually for muscle injuries, you would think the type of injury Hartnell would have from being hit on the skate with the puck would be picked up with an x-ray. Sometimes an x-ray won't show a fracture, but an MRI will.

Who knows, odds are he won't be playing anytime soon, so it's a moot point.

I'd be amazed if it's not a fracture.

Probably a safe bet. 6-8 weeks equates to what, about 20-25 games? Good lord.

They barely have anything to move, it's cost you more then it's worth & then leave you weak in another area.

It's not worth it

Isn't that the definition of indefinitely? When you don't have a definite timeframe?

It's only just begun Joe. Was so excited for the season to start, and in 3 games the fun has been sucked right out of me.

That is the meaning of the word yes, but when I see it, I assume it's a long term type injury. Do you ever see someone who is said to be out indefinitely return in 3 days? I'm sure it has happened, but that is the exception, not the norm.

If Hartnell is out for more than half the season. They have to think about just signing some scrubbs and riding this thing out. I mean if there was ever a season to suffer through it is right now. Lockout shortened with a great draft. I'm Flyered up!
