Not going to play but thank you. Perhaps twitter would be more to your liking.

What I have seen if the Flyers try to narrow that gap more so this season than previous seasons. What that has created is the forwards not being able to use their speed completely.

The team is trying to compensate for a slow D-core that has well below average in the transition game. Thats problem #1 to me.

- flyer_nutter

The problem is that tightening the gap between the Forwards and defense does the opposite of what you say it does. It makes a team play faster, not slower. That is a basic of hockey that every team wants to do. Regardless of who the players are. it's a fundamental of Hockey.

The knee jerk reaction is not from the Flyers. But from posters going overboard and overreacting to a team that simply isn't playing well. 45 games left in the Season.
- MJL

I went overboard how exactly?

If you wish to believe the team will win it all this season based on the lineup by all means that is your choice.

While I would love for it to happen, I prefer to live in reality. The team needs star power on D, and to improve the transition aspect from the back end. Forwards need a veteran brought in.

Yeah, why make adjustments to try and win games now. People felt they wouldn't win "jack" anyhow, so why bother trying at all? Start Leighton, by all means. Don't bother trying to win, because hey, they're not favorites to win the Cup so why bother at all?

Good stuff.

I mean, the Flyers just should have stayed locked out, amirite?

Interesting because I see the Flyers playing in mud.

It is supposed to make the game faster. However when you have a bunch of slow defensive D, that sucks ass in the transition game you get what we have seen through the first 3 games.

Perhaps you should re-read the first line of my initial post to get what it was about.

I'll help out. "Imo firing Lava is a joke".

Nobody is talking about minor "adjustments". Which I personally think have been made as I continually see the Flyers start off games attempting to narrow the gap between the forwards and D.

When things go south, they panic.

What do you mean in terms of "bothering at all"?

Edit: My post was about the talk of firing Lava first and foremost.

- flyer_nutter

Well, I don't see many calling for the coach to be fired, rather looking at it as a possibility.

What I took from your post was, it seemed to me to be saying, they weren't going to win this year anyway, so why bother?

Kovalchuk pressured Timonen at the point, and Timonen passed the puck down the wall, where it was turned over to the other Devils forward.

After Timonen passed the puck, he stayed at the blue line, Kovalchuk wheeled out to center ice. When Kovalchuk received the pass he was a good 5 to 7 feet ahead of Timonen and on the move. Timonen went from being almost stationary to nearly catching Kovalchuk. That breakaway had little to do with speed, and more to do with Kovalchuk receiving the pass behind them.

For (frank)s sake, everyone is a Flyer fan here. The whole "I'm a better fan because I'm a believer" is getting way out of hand. Its been thrown around here for years indirectly.

I was saying firing lava would be a joke. As I have seen a few posters bring it up yesterday and today. Nobody is talking about tanking. Or not making a move to improve the team long term if there is one to be made. Or Lava adjusting slightly to help the team win games.

What I was saying is the current group on the ice imo is not that good. Its a work in progress that needs changes.

The last time we tried that, we didn't even get the first pick of the draft.

We couldn't even screw up that season properly.

I think I need to watch some YouTube clips from the 2010 Playoffs or something. I just don't like how every game (again, going back to the end of last season) seems to follow the same pattern (i.e.--fall behind, chasing the game, hope they come back, watch everyone roast Bryz...most of the time, unjustifiably).

I'm not saying anyone is a "better" fan than anyone else. I simply said that it seemed to me that your post was saying that since they weren't going to win "jack" why bother making adjustments. It seemed you were simply calling for the defense to be overhauled and to Hell with this season, since overhauling the defense during the season is likely not going to be possible.

There has been quite a few people talking about tanking. There has been a lot of talk about making adjustments. There's also been a few who are simply saying that before running out and making moves, or firing coaches, give it awhile to see if the execution improves and judge everything, from the GM on down when the players are executing simple hockey plays at closer to their normal level.

People slag the defense, but nobody has played especially well. Giroux, Hartnell, Couturier, Schenn, Voracek...none of them are defensemen and they're not playing well at all. They've been sloppy with the puck and not just in transition.

<------IS ONE OF THE IDIOTS talking about tanking(Only reason i want them to tank is Seth Jones).......

I remember a story when i was 12....i got caught shoplifting hockey cards from clover...point is my mom beat the crap out of me....my dad looked at me and laughed lol...he said if your going to steal, steal big the punishment will be the same....Moral of the story: If your going to fail fail big the reward is better and the outcome(not being in the playoffs) is the same...No one cares if you are 14th or 30th. but there is a big difference selecting 1/2 spot versus 14/15 spot.

Personally i hate the weighted lottery....it breeds incompetence, but hey take advantage of it if you can.

I'm not calling anyone an idiot. The problem with tanking is, under the lottery rules, you could end up being the worst team in the NHL and not get Jones.

Only saw the first and the 2nd period up to the penalty shot.

I thought Luke Schenn looked better last night. Quick effective outlet passes when he had the puck and was being pressured.

That is all the good I can come up with right now.

I cant' get behind the idea of "tanking".
I want them to win every game, or bust their asses trying to win when they lose.

On the first PP unit, I know it had success last season.
But if tweaking things I think I would consider moving Voracek to the second unit as he is the one getting the most good shooting opportunities on his point/half wall opposite Giroux, and his shot is not great and seems not to be getting through most of the time. Maybe try Mezzy or even Foster in that spot. The second PP unit could use another puck possession guy like Jake to get the puck up the ice and set up.

I'm reaching a bit, but that is what I saw.
