One bad period doesn't kill an entire season.
- RichardHertz

If anything it makes the season. Team needed to be knocked down and realize that offensive fire power isn't the only thing needed to be a playoff team.

Exactly... you could tell the whole team was off the mark last night.

In my defense im not really trolling in here. The one comment was pretty weak but i at least acknowledged that.

Just skimmed through the troll fest on here. Kinda surprised that its a pile of Leaf fans doing the bulk of the yapping.
I fully expected to see Nuck and Flames fans but really Leafers...What the hell do you have to be proud of? STFU and move on.

I'll say further that to trade Gagner and then throw Weiss' name as a replacement is utterly inane. Weiss has a very similar career path to Gagner (small thinking centres drafted around 5th, started as 18 year olds, written off as busts, similar numbers). Cloutier is looking at the guy that Gags could become as his replacement when all he does is rag on Gag's size and physicality.

This is a good read, and some good insight to this Luongo trade rumor.

I dont believe Lou would Waive to come to Edmonton...and secondly...If Gillis traded Lou within the division I would bet it would lead to his firing. I just cant see him doing it.

Yann Dannis says (frank) you.

Also, anyone notice how the injured players tried to injure Bulin by making him stand on the bench?

Crafty (frank)ers wanted him to pop his hip by stepping up.

if there is one thing bozak isn't, its underrated. that guy isn't a top six forward on about 90% of teams in the NHL.
- sensarmy_11

Aquaman and Jimmy T are the same guy, a Vancouver fan posing as a Leaf poster. I know crazy right? Explanation: Trolls are having a harder time picking on a leaf fan base filled with apathy, ie. most Leaf fan comments now are jaded, and even when someone posts something positive, our own fan base rips on the poster for drinking the Koolaid. So, in order to give trolls something to do, some idiot with oh so much time on his hands creates a dummy account to give the trolls more fodder to work with.

Absolutely. Also, you can't completely exonerate Dubnyk for allowing 3 of his goals on the PP last night, but 3 PPG in a period (plus one in the last minute) indicates at least in part that the team lacked hustle and focus last night.

Nothing about last night's game indicated that Dubnyk and Dubnyk alone needs to go.

Dude needs to focus on those slap shots. Long bomb goals are killing us right now.

Rich Cloutier keeps finding ways to draw us to his blogs, that's all it is. i.e. Bozak for Dubnyk....moreover, when you post that Schultz is going to be the next Paul Coffey, you have to expect us to show up and call him on it. Dubnyk, I don't think he deserves criticism for last nights game. The Oilers just got torn apart by a veteran team that typically shows up in the regular season to pad their stats, don't worry, they won't do poop playoff time.

I think you could have had Brodeur in his prime in net in the first last night and it still would have been 3 or 4-1. It was a collective team breakdown and like myself and a couple of others have said, it was good for them.

Regardless of the play in front of him, Dubnyk can't let 6 goals in a period. What we saw yesterday is something that we are going to see a lot of this year. Dubnyk better be prepared when the play is in our zone, because coverage breakdowns are going to happen a lot this year.

There are posters posing as Leaf fans to make the fan base look bad. A moderator for the site has banned one or two of them this morning.

Dont paint us all with the same brush, just like you dont want to be lumped in with your delusional douchebag fan base members.

There's a specific lack of focus when the puck is behind the net or on the end boards. Kassian's goal, Both of Marleau's goals were blown coverages under those circumstances.

I will say Edler's, Couture's first goal, and Vlasic's we're laughers. So far this season Dubnyk's let in 3 goals of 8 that he should have back.

These trades make no sense. In order to make a trade you need to address the needs or wants of BOTH teams, not just the Oilers. Gagner + a pick for Luongo, after you trade Dubnyk for Weiss? Absolutely ridiculous. You couldn't even get Weiss for Gagner, so how does this make sense?

And what does Vancouver want with an undersized center? Nothing! Vancouver is actively trying to get bigger and tougher to play against, not smaller and softer. The Canucks aren't going to simply take Edmonton's scraps and gift wrap Luongo.

Luongo is not going to Edmonton unless we get value, and in order to trade him within the division, that value must be high. Realistically, Gillis won't trade him to Edmonton unless he gets one of your "untradeables," so dream on.

Try Luongo to Washington for Brooks Laich & either Holtby or Neuvirth. Addresses needs for both teams. Cap hits match up. Gillis has wanted Laich for awhile. Leonsis wants to win now.

That actually makes a little sense, doubt it will be Holtby though. Likely Neuvirth and Laich for Luongo and a pick.

This is like a psychic saying a family member will suffer pain; and then you find a family member that stubbed their toe and say "see"...the psychic is right!

Any one of the 29 teams out there that Luongo doesn't play for could come up with a player that needs to be moved first before signing Lu.

Waste of time.

Blown coverage or not, the good goalies in the league step up and make saves for their team. None of the goals were anything special other than the Sharks shooting the puck on net in areas that you can beat a goalie.

Laich was one of Boudreau's boys, not sure if Oates likes him in the same way and based on Washington's start, I imagine that they might be shopping for a vet to go with Holtby. Though, its the same dillema really, with Holtby eventually pushing Luongo out the same way Cory has in Vancouver. I guess I was just basing this on the supposed "mystery" team.

And I admit you're right, I don't want him going to Toronto. The Leafs can't even score at even strength, what's a goalie going to do for them.

I also think Edmonton has no real reason to get Luongo, they've patiently brought along DD, and last year he got better as the season wore on and he got more work. The Oilers currently have too many question marks to make a serious run at a playoff spot anyways, better to let their kids grow this year, and if they make the playoffs with what they have, then this coming offseason, make a big move based on what they need to address (which I think will only be figured out if they let their kids play).

i would argue that no teams fans flip flop on their young prospects like leaf fans do. although, to be honest, i blame the toronto media for that more than the fans. if kadri makes one turnover in a game, sportsnet and TSN will spend 45% of their shows talking about it and analyzing it.

kadri has a good game, he's the next gretzky.....he has a bad game and he's the next pat falloon

- sensarmy_11

Agree fully. The media is bull poop with any story they can. Even like the lu thing in van. Im pretty sure in the dressing room no one cares. Media just wants a deal to look at and talk about for the next month.

I've yet to see Kadri make a defensive zone miscue, he's had one bad giveaway in the offensive zone on a PP, but that's it....yet all I ever hear on hockey central is how bad he is defensively. I tend to tune them out.....calling Lupul a third liner, and at best a 2nd liner on a bad team is another great anecdote from the talking heads, despite the fact he had the second highest PPG in the league for LW's last year, or that Grabo is a 3rd line centre on most teams, even though he's in the top 30 centres in points over the last two seasons. Now I'm not saying to base it on stats, but if Grabo is in the top 30, yet plays on our 2nd line, would it not stand to reason that he just might be a solid 2nd line centre since he ranks in the top 30, which statistically means he's a 1st line centre? This is what we deal with in Toronto, no logic. Anyways, the Leafs suck I know, but there are some good pieces here that go unnoticed.
