Gagner, Plante, Nash.....had high hopes for Plante as a shutdown guy.
- mykokes

Plante made strides last year. I mean he wasn't ready for the NHL, but he was doing real well in OKC and showing some good signs.

i don't think kadri is a bust, that was my point. i obviously don't think turris is a bust either.

i think people were pissed about that trade initially simply because how much rundblad had been pumped up over the previous 12 months, while the only thing we heard about turris was that he held out. once all the dust settled, and sens fans realized the player they had gotten, everyone was pretty happy.

is it possible that rundblad ends up being better than turris...sure, no doubt. however, rundblad is not what ottawa needed, they NEEDED a 2nd line center, and turris is a pretty good one.

True. Damn now im agreeing with Sens fans.

As much as it pains me to say this... I would trade Gags for Loungo. Has nothing to do with last nights performance by Dubs. I have never been sold on him as a starter. Not sure we could get Dubinsky for him though. I also like the idea of signing Arnott. Not sure he can play second line minutes, but he does add the grit that everyone says our top 9 needs and is a much better option for faceoffs than Horcoff for the PP

The Oilers had 3 first rounders that year. Two of them are no longer in the organization.
- sanfordnson

Good things the Leafs didn't have a 1st round pick that year(like always) lol. Traded it for Toskala. I hope it didn't turn out to be Couture...I cant remember.

People need to look at Logan Couture. He spent lots of time in the AHL before he got his first full shot with the sharks. Drafted in 2007.
- Allstarzz

Being able to play behind 2 #1 centers also helps

I fukkin hate Yakupovs number - it weirds me out.
He wanted the new number to add to 10 (his old # that he can't have)
I get that and so do the numerologists but for god sakes 73, 82, and 91 are way better.

Everytime he skates toward an opposing player with the puck I feel he should just tackle them with that kicking team #64.

This is the worst part about last night.

SJ traded the pick to the blues, and they drafted eller.

haha.. well third line. I don't think you will see Kessel or Bozak on the Leafs by next years trade deadline.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

Most idiotic post of all time. Kessel will be gone? If you think that this kid is ever going to play hockey in a different city, you are on crack. Kessel will be resigned and I give that a full 100% guarentee. Look what they gave up to get him, and if they are going to sign Lupul to a five year deal, you can expect that they will sign Kessel to an extension sooner than later.

if there is one thing bozak isn't, its underrated. that guy isn't a top six forward on about 90% of teams in the NHL.
- sensarmy_11

Actually, he is and you prove my point by under rating him. Bozak is way better than people think. Good D, Good skater, Good PK, Good Team Player, Creative, Intelligent etc.

Thanks though, for proving my point.

While I haven't been able to watch either of the Oilers first two games, i've looked that the box scores and it appears to me that the Hemsky/Gagner/Yakapov line is a defensive liability. Out of the 5 goals scored against the Oilers 5 on 5, they've been on the ice for 4 of them.
- rathagor

But those two lines definatley play the most minutes and are bound to let in goals. Jeez. Box scores out of context mean nothing.

i think hes got some skillz and might be underrated. plays both ways pretty well.

but without looking into tons of teams, your counterpart might also be right.
is he a top 6 on many teams? maybe a few. id take him over gagner, for no other reason than a little more size, 2 way play. but hes a fringer top 6 i think. and neither the oilers or leafs are very good. so him slotting in that spot on those teams doesnt say all that much

I think you could have had Brodeur in his prime in net in the first last night and it still would have been 3 or 4-1. It was a collective team breakdown and like myself and a couple of others have said, it was good for them.
- sanfordnson

Ya - even Krueger took that perspective.

lol the Schultz-Detroit comment? Yeah going to an aging roster that will struggle to make the playoffs is such a good idea.
