Either way I'm not too worried. One period of bad hockey isn't the make or break of this team. |

The whole team chemistry thing will come. Hall, Ebs, Nuge and Schultz are familiar with each other. Yakupov is still figuring things out, Schultz is realizing what the NHL is all about, Whitney is definitely getting back up to game speed, theyre all getting used to Krueger. Its not like this team came into this year with things established. There are actually a number of new things that have to be adapted to. - sanfordnson
Whitney was unimpressive for both games... |

Injured, surgery, long recovery, no training camp. I think we all knew Whits would probably take some time. |

- My preference would be for the Oilers to keep Gagner and Dubnyk for now, and to instead go out to get someone like Ben Bishop from Ottawa so the Oilers have two viable options in net for the next few seasons. - Maxbone
I like this plan better. EDM should give Dubnyk some time. Gave him a decent contract and money, give him this season to work it out. I think EDM should give Danis some games too, why not. Go shopping for Bishop is an option and I rather have that than Luongo. I really doubt Luongo will waive NTC to come to EDM. He prefers hot warm FLA. He ultimately decides where he goes too. |

Mentioned it before, the guy said last year when he came back it took awhile to get use to the NHL game speed, not sure why it would be any different after sitting on his ass during a lockout. |

True... but he did not make Potter look worse IMO... Granted Potter took an unnecessary penalty which was completely homerish... Still there should be a difference between the 2 and there is not or not sizeable yet anyway... |

i honestly don't believe there is a trade there to be made. i don't think anything that the oilers would be willing to offer is anything that ottawa would want/need.
completely taking the untouchables out of the equation, i imagine the only guys that ottawa would be interested in would be N. Schultz and Smid, and considering that edm has the same depth problems on D that ottawa does, those guys are probably pretty close to being untouchables too. - sensarmy_11
You guys gave up a (frank)ing 2nd round pick to get Bishop. The same Bishop who has done pretty much nothing to show he is worth anymore than he was last season.

Many players were on their asses... not sure the lockout is a valid excuse when all teams had players in similar situations... |

What is the deal with Bulin? Is he going to be healthy, because OKC can't exactly afford to have Dannis in the NHL all year.
Asking price is more than the second Ott gave up for Bishop.
IF it's not a lot more than the 2nd, say a 2nd and a 3rd or something similar I think we have to pull the trigger. And this has nothing to do with Dubnyk either. We need a backup next year. Bishop at 26 could really push Dubnyk. |

Think we have no choice. Who are these big centers that we want on line #2 anyway?
Getzlaf would be nice, but probably a pipe dream. Antropov is a UFA, but that would be a short term fix at best. - Lahey

Not saying it's an excuse, but it it what it is. The guy is older and takes longer to get into game shape. It shouldn't be a shock that a guy who struggled in the past to get into game shape is struggling this year after no hockey for 7 months. |

how many blogs have had saying how good dubynk #futureallstar vezina and heart contender. And your now saying after one bad game the guy needs to go or needs help.... - Leafs107
Ummmmmm considering I am a regular here on maxbone's blog's I can honestly say he has never said Dubnyk was an NHL all star nor a Vezina canditate. Now I am not going to embarrass the Leaf regulars that come here to harrass us, I feel that your fail attemps at trolling is doing a fine job of it. Time for you to go to bed and let the real trolls play. |

I think if you state you want to be traded and find that over several months no one really wants to pay much for you - you either stay where you are or you take pretty much take what you can get... I bet if Lou is approached and Edm was the team offering Gillis- he (frank)ing takes it and runs... cause I am sure he is sick of the proposals and questions - and it must be a tad weird in the locker room of Vancouver too.. |

please point out where i said what bishop was worth. all i said was who i thought ottwaw would be interested in, and that given that, there probably wasnt' a deal to be made.
did you forget to take your valium this morning or something?
and besides, ben bishop (granted in a smaller sample) actually has similar numbers to dubnyk in the NHL. the only differnce is that bishop has had the misfortune of playing behind some good goalies, while dubnyk hasn't.
not saying the guy is gonna be a star, but you automatically assume that he has no value, which is false.
that being said, you're the same guy who called me an idiot for saying that MDZ could and likely would sign for 3m or less...........so your opinion probably isn't worth too much. |

I knew what you were saying... and I agree... but you would think if you have time off you would work on a few things... all I want is for him to start impressing after game #10ish or earlier otherwise he will be surpassed and be the bottom pairing with alot to prove |

I've seen you state multiple times that Bishop goes for no less than a 1st round pick. Asking for Smid or Nick Schultz is the same thing.
Ben Bishop is lucky if he is still worth a 2nd round pick. |

really, please provide a link to that statement..........i'll be waiting.
also, show me in my post where i said it would be bishop straight up for either of those 2 d-men. i said those are the players that ottawa would be interested in.
there's this thing called reading comprehension.......you should look into it. |

I'm actually shocked that the Rangers managed to swing that deal. Hence why Subban still isn't signed, that whole MDZ deal really (frank)ed him.
