The Columbus scenario is ridiculous.
- dawgzhouse

i would tend to agree. i wouldn't give up Dubinsky for a goalie unless it's for a bonafide starter, and even then...

how many blogs have had saying how good dubynk #futureallstar vezina and heart contender. And your now saying after one bad game the guy needs to go or needs help....
- Leafs107

The goalie i find somewhat similar in style to Dubnyk is Brian Elliott. And knowing the ups and downs Dubnyk has had in the Oiler's system, their paths aren't that much different. I could see Dubnyk having an All star season or two when the Oilers become a good team. I can also see some periods where he can't stop a beach ball. Is that the same as calling him a Vezina contender or Hart Trophy winner? Not in the slightest. Haven't seen Clouts call him either of those, but if he has, then your trolling is probably warranted. But I don't recall him going to such lengths.

As for the Schultz comments, well Clouts, can't back you up on the Coffey comparisons. But I've never seen a d-man dominate the AHL offensively the way Schultz did, and at Wisconsin he was better than both Ryan McDonagh and Jake Gardiner.

its crazy. ive never seen him responding this far into a blog.

hey Clouts.

It's a "time of day" thing. I usually write my blogs between Midnight and 2am. I'll stick around for an hour afterwards for comments. From 8am until 5pm I'm at the college, so I only sneak in once in a while to see what people are writing. Damn "real" job screws up my life.

Well, to be fair, when followers of the Oil make him out to be the next Coffey, people will laugh he plays like nothing more than the next Marc-Andre Bergeron.

I agree. I think like two goals, one for sure can be pinned on Dubnyk. The others he didnt have much of a chance. It was a turd of a period. Possibly the worst Ive ever seen.

They needed this I said ladt night. They needed to be brought back to reality. Hypes over. Now they can play.

Kreuger basically said the same thing after the game.

The whole team chemistry thing will come. Hall, Ebs, Nuge and Schultz are familiar with each other. Yakupov is still figuring things out, Schultz is realizing what the NHL is all about, Whitney is definitely getting back up to game speed, theyre all getting used to Krueger. Its not like this team came into this year with things established. There are actually a number of new things that have to be adapted to.

Let me go on record as saying I am loving the comments in this blog section. Wow. I can't tell the trolls from the people who just read a third of the blog and assumed the rest.

Allow me to summarize my opinions here, because most of you missed it:

- The Luongo to Edmonton rumor comes from Josh Rimer and Bill Waters, not me.

- Luongo is a better goalie RIGHT NOW than Dubnyk. That being said, his contract sucks.

- Sam Gagner is a polarizing player. People either love him or hate him. I don't feel either. I think Gagner is a decent player, but he's not the big mean #2 center the Oilers need. The Oilers are too small up front, and too small at center.

- If the rumor Gagner for Luongo rumor is true, the Oilers will need to deal Dubnyk to acquire a #2 center to replace him.

- My preference would be for the Oilers to keep Gagner and Dubnyk for now, and to instead go out to get someone like Ben Bishop from Ottawa so the Oilers have two viable options in net for the next few seasons.

- Maxbone

Do you really think Dubnyk would net you a big top 6 center?? I don't see any teams with a top 6 center laying around that they would trade for a backup goalie on 27 of the teams in the NHL. Basically what your saying is that your going to trade your undersized top 6 center for Luongo, then take your below average Dubnyk and trade him to get another top 6 center.

Yann Dannis says (frank) you.

Also, anyone notice how the injured players tried to injure Bulin by making him stand on the bench?

Crafty (frank)ers wanted him to pop his hip by stepping up.

- Lahey

Granted the team played better but yes Danis did not do any worse than Dubey thats for sure... I would like us to start him a game - as I thought he was definitely more engaged on the play that duh dubey IMO...- dubey is too casual -like he doesnt care about letting in 6... maybe this puts a competition in place... and a competition is a good thing...

Should've fired Renney last year, had Krueger as interim coach so the players could've learned his system.

I'm questioning whether Yak should play with Hemsky. Yak is trying to figure the NHL out, but having to figure out Hemsky is a (frank)ing nightmare for anybody let alone a rookie.

Dubey just didn't look like himself. I'd suspect he lets two early goals against LA and he's pulled.

Actually, I don't think Dubnyk would be enough to acquire a #2 center, especially someone who would be an upgrade over Gagner. Would Oilers fans be okay if we dealt Dubey and our 1st round pick in 2013 for a legit #2 center with size? I'd do it. Not sure anyone else would.

i honestly don't believe there is a trade there to be made. i don't think anything that the oilers would be willing to offer is anything that ottawa would want/need.

completely taking the untouchables out of the equation, i imagine the only guys that ottawa would be interested in would be N. Schultz and Smid, and considering that edm has the same depth problems on D that ottawa does, those guys are probably pretty close to being untouchables too.

I speak with Luongo's brother.......he would NOT go to Edmonton....
- robbies

Weird, cause I also spoke with Luongo's brother and not only did he say he would go to edmonton, but that you are an idiot. Didn't J. Schultz brother also say he wasn't coming to edmonton?

I wouldn't deal the 1st in 2013 as the Oilers gm. I'm not saying tank either, but you guys aren't a #2 centre away from being a contender Rich. And hell, in this draft, there are centres/d-men galore.

I'd suggest if you want a centre, a big one, who can teach and help the kids along, sign Jason Arnott. Bring him home.

It's Paajarvi's useless muffin wrist-shot from 45ft away that gets to me. Why oh why haven't Oilers coaches beaten that out of his game yet?
- Maxbone

PVR played a good game... He was on the 4th (frank)ing line with Petrell whom was invisible last night... hell Belanger had a good game- got in a little scrum even... I think Pvr improved... not enough for Pilgor to give him a big sloppy yet- but he improved and it showed...

What if Gagner was on a line with PRV and Clowe? Everyone wants those big centers, but they aren't exactly out there. Maybe big wingers is the answer?
- Lahey

Would be great. I think in terms of building the Oilers are looking to re-create the Detroit mold (small smart centres, bull-moose wingers) rather than pittsburgh (big skilled centres)

Think we have no choice. Who are these big centers that we want on line #2 anyway?

Getzlaf would be nice, but probably a pipe dream. Antropov is a UFA, but that would be a short term fix at best.
