I had pretty low expectations for Brunner, hadn't even looked him up on youtube or anything, but I've been very impressed with him. Definitely looks like he belongs and has had a ton of chances, could definitely put up some points.

Helm 100%. Bertuzzi still has his place, yeah he's not fast but he's got the hands for powerplay and offensive zone.

Four games is still not a very large sample from which to judge Brunner's long-range NHL effectiveness, but so far so good. We already knew he had a laser wrist shot, but I've maybe been most impressed by his willingness to take a hit, to go into the corners, to work hard and possibly pay the price to get and keep the puck. Leino didn't have that. Hudler didn't have that. But it looks like Brunner does, and if he can stay healthy and produce points at at least a top-six level over the long run he will be a massive upgrade over either of them.

But like I said, four games. Jury is still out, but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was a week ago.
