How can fans from the worst ran organization in profesional sports, over the last decade, question a GM of a team that's been the best one of the best over the last four years. That's creepy........
- Boinker

Because the current Leafs GM and past Leafs GM built what your GM is working with today...

He probably got confused when he signed Luongo. He thought he was still in agent mode and high fived Luongo after he signed the contract.

The Capitals, as I have written previously, are a possibility...as are, I am told today, the Senators...

what are smoking today EK. is your source on this a magic 8-ball? the senators, who are actively trying to GET RID of one of their 3 goalies, are inquiring about bringing in another one.

i get that you try to print everything you hear, but at some point you need to use your common sense.

if someone told you that the pens were shopping crosby for a draft pick, would you write it in your blog?

And what players would those be?

So far we're in agreement he overpaid for Luongo?

- Pen15

I think he was over confident in a goaltenders ability to age like fine wine. Luongo has a lost a step, no doubt, but at the time he was considered the best in the world. Top 3 for sure and signed a cap circumveting contract. If I recall many fans from other teams were calling for the Canucks to lose draft picks because of it.

Yeah, I'd love to have a washed up player agent handing out 10yr deals like they were tic tacs.

Give your head a shake.

The distraction and the teams desperate need for depth is doing right by nobody but his own ego.

Thanks.

EDIT: Can we agree it was a non-Gillis pick?

- Pen15

I think I just did, although I wasn't in the conversation.

If the Flyers are in on Lou, anybody can be in on Lou.

The fundamental point in all the above text is that Gillis miscalculated and made a dumb move by overpaying for a guy.

One of the primary attributes a GM should have (outside knowing hockey), is being a forward thinker. To not see that this contract would come back to bite him in the @ss is a huge lack in forward thinking skills...and it's why he's found himself in the predicament he's in today.

What the (frank) are you talking about asshat? A comment was made about him not wanting to go to Toronto because they've got a bad team, sensnucksnocup said we couldn't even beat Edmonton. Now what the (frank) does that have to do with winning a Cup?

You're a (frank)in moron!!

- LeftCoaster

You mad?

Because you're being a typical Vancouver fan and openly parading your 'almosts'. No body gives a (frank)ing poop about your 'almosts'.. Because they don't mean poop.

You know how many teams fans can be on here still pounding their chest about that time they went to the finals? Edmonton? Calgary?

No other fan base is ignorant enough to think it means something in 2013.

Pull your head out of your ass, numbnuts.

Your team is all but done. You might get a good year or two out of them at best. No prospects, no depth, no cap space, older roster, breaking down players like Kesluck.

Good times. Enjoy the ride. Guys like you just make the bashing as pleasurable as a morning BJ.

- systemtool

I gotta agree. I think that the 'Nucks are where the Flames were 3 years ago, clinging to a hope and an aging core. At least we started drafting decently. That's what I think Van needs to start doing. An eye in the future.

This is getting funnier and funnier by the day..Everyday that pass's a new team is in the mix for LOU according to Gillis..We all know the truth, noway in hell 2 games in to the season no team is worried about their goaltending enough to inquire about LOU (other then maybe the 3 teams that have been mentioned all along hawks/panthers/leafs.. The leafs have 3 goal against in 2 games so i doubt Nonis is that worried yet,Panthers have decent tending and some coming up so i doubtits them, hawks well maybe just maybe,i can see them biting but the prices is still to much..

This is a smoke screen Gillis is doing over and over and over again trying to drive a bidding war for LOU and he will fail again and again and again..This is all pure bullpoop and noone is buying into it..

For all you Van fans that says LOU wont and does not want to play in Toronto must have missed the part where Lou has already agreed to wave his ntc to come here and play if Gillis can work the deal out..Lets see turn down playing on a team that odds are would at least make the playoffs with lou in net or refuse to wave the ntc just to sit as a backup on his current team..Its a no brainer for everyone except the Van fans it seems..

(frank) no. Why?

What has Gillis done for Vancouver?

I dare you to name all the players on the Canucks roster that Nonis brought in compared to what Gillis has. Go, on, call my bluff.

- systemtool

Gillis brought in Lu didn't he?

I think someone needs to tell you this. Me, being the sweethart that I am, will be the one to do it.

When the blog is about your GM and your players, then its going to be discussed. The fact your GM isnt doing his job, and if he is then hes pretty horrible at it, isnt something you yourself should be taking so personal.

Most importantly, when someone speaks negative about your GM, which is todays topic, and your response is nothing more than insulting another teams GM, then it just goes to show you cant defend him and what they're saying is in fact true.

We are. I'm okay with that. I would've liked to see what Burke can do with this team...and I'm okay with seeing what Nonis can do now that Burke is gone.

There's no denying both of them built your franchise from the ground up...so they have the credibility and pedigree.

The two things Gillis doesn't have.

No. Nonis.

Gillis has brought none of their top talents. None. He did trade their best and only good prospect for a 3rd liner though. Ill give him that much.

Your last 2 "Lou"s weren't capitalized. I fixed them for you.

As far as the smoke screen part, you're spot on.

He hasn't drafted or traded well either.
