I think Leaf and Hab fans have finally been humbled and realise their situations now. Same with Flames fans. Canucks fans have mutated into a breed worse than any of those fan bases ever were. Especially for a team thats never won it all. At least with the other teams there was a sense of pride about the organization and a hope of what once was.

Guys like Paaravi (sp?), future draft picks and free agency will fill their needs through trades and signings. Its all about patience. No sense in taking your time this far and all of a sudden breaking into a sprint.

Well played? EVERYONE saw right through what Gillis was doing, he's the most obvious spinster in the entire league, you can tell he's an ex-agent by the way he treats the media and his players. He does it all the time, no GM in their right mind would look at that comment and actually believe it meant anything.

Oh, it's not just VANTEL. The response from another Canucks fan.

I honestly don't think it's that unreasonable. Maybe Edm throws in Khabibulin (sp?) to offset some of Lou's salary, and a 2nd or 3rd comes back from the Canucks.

I actually think Habs fans can feel quite good about this. The long fabled “Ryder, Halak, and a second” trade landing any prospect/player in the league has now been usurped. The stupidest trade rumours in the history of hockeybuzz have been replaced with “Luongo, Kassian, and a second” for just about anything they want. Congrats VANTEL and Fosco. You’ve really raised the bar.

I think we should get Boinker's take. That can only make things more interesting. Given that Kassian is a Nucks prospect, I can only imagine he feels that he's the best power forward in the league, will go down in the annals of NHL history as the best ever, and Edmonton should probably throw in Hall. Maybe Yakupov. If not, then definitely a first.
