It's kinda surprising that so many feel Vancity is "screwed" with their current cap situation.

So at the start of all this, the Canucks currently have 3.9 Million in cap space next year.

Ballard will be bought out or traded.....add 4.2 million

Luongo/Schnedier trade ...... add 4.0 or 5.3 Million

So all told Canucks will have 12.1 or 13.4 Million in cap space next year. Kinda surprising when you do your research isnt it???

Dont worry, I know and I'll tell you. After losing Luongo, Ballard and Booth they will need about 12 players.

vancouver seems to groom their players well but they do bring up a good point. im sure you guys will be fine.

speaking of research.. pretty sure kassian is RFA next year.

you're mentality is very similiar to what we deal with as leaf fans.

you assume that luongo will be traded and it will automatically clear up 5.3 million in cap space.. you assume that ballard will be bought out. 4.2 million extra.

you don't see a cap hit from ballards buy out? you don't see any salary having to come back in any kind of luongo trade?

it's easy just to assume that these players will be magically gone, and poof.. so will any cap associated to them.

From what I understand, there is nothing allowing Vancouver to create a treade with "TEAM A" for s series of Players and Prospects for a Round 7 pick. Then, as Vancouver is the rights holder to their players, they can allow others teams to talk to him with permission... in other words... "TEAM A".

So the Canucks make this ridiculous trade.
Same day, buy out Lou who has previosuly agreed to a new contract with "TEAM A"

3) hansen ======> need to re-sign lappierre and higgins who are making 1.0 and 1.9 respectively - don't see much of a raise if at all for either -- let's say they re-sign or other comparable players are signed for 3.5m so 3rd line is - 4.85
4) jensen schroeder and another 1m banger - 3m

forwards = 34.65

bieksa hamhuis - 9.1
edler garrison - 9.6
tanev + 1m #6dman - 2

d= 20.7

that's a total of 60.1. leaves 4.4m to sign 3 players (or leaves 4.4m to absorb in money coming back from a luongo trade).

the point is that vancouver is gonna have a interesting off season and that alot COULD go wrong but in all likelyhood it probably wont. you guys got lucky with the 2 buy out options but so did a few other teams. good luck to you guys.

Take a look.....They're not slouches, that's the core.....Re sign Higgins Lapierre and Weise that's 15......for what a cap hit of 4 Million for all 3? Schroeder will be here next year as well....make it 16 players.

So leaving 8.1 to fill out your roster with all that you need is some 4th liners and some extra D. More room with $$ to spare, it will be done I am far from worried.

I'm just trying to point out that its not all doom and gloom as people say on here.
