Im not calling anyone a bust. Im just calling it for what it is. A guy with only a single good season cashing in on a foolish GM who offered him 4.5 for 6 years.

You know im right, and thats why hurts the most, isnt it?

- systemtool

Haha I'm not hurt at all. Garrison had a great year last season, besides the fact that he was one of the top offensive d-men he also played in a shutdown role for big minutes.

So if garrison's "one good season" bothers you so much what do you think of the lupul contract? 5 years at 5.25? Besides last season the guy hasn't scored more than 50 points since 2005. 8 years!!! Add to the fact his injury history.

You're just a little butthurt from Komi and getting fingered. Just because it happened to your favorite team so often doesn't mean every free agent signing goes terribly wrong. As much as you would like it to the sky is not falling...at least not yet. Maybe look into some pills for that jerking knee of yours.

Eklund: The Latest on Luongo...
- Eklund

Probably the worst GM in the NHL

First he under values Hodgson and makes a terrible trade

Than he over values someone with an awful contract that he gave.

To make matters worse he goes and says to a newspaper that all the trade offers he's been given have been for a terrible contract and a non roster player yet he knows better than all those GM's what Luongo's trade value is.

Uhh Gillis, if all the offfers are the same. That IS the trade market value dumba$$. I can say my 2005 honda civic is worth 45 grand and say that's my fair market value but it doesn't mean I'm going to get it.

Seriously, fire this guy. He's a moron.

I can't remember - is Gillis wearing his agenda glasses, or are you wearing your agenda glasses to see what Gillis is really doing?
- Atomic Wedgie

But here's what I REALLY think..

I love this kind of stuff, and since I deal with rumors 24/7 I have learned first and foremost to look for agendas when a GM speaks openly. Because they almost never do. Gillis is a veteran GM and not one to put out these kinds of detailed statements to the press. To me this has all the smells of a classic message to "the team everyone thinks." GMs NEVER go on the record with such statements unless they have a selfish reason motivating them to do so. This is clearly about getting the Leafs to buck up more for Luongo. I see no other reason for Gillis to be so open and detailed through the press...

The obvious answer is so often the real answer. There is not suddenly a great bidding war to take on Luongo's contract...it's not Philly, SJ, Wash, Edm, Chicago, Ottawa...

It's all about Toronto. And trying to get more.

Well played sir, well played indeed.

The game continues... -Eklund

So all you have said is what Gillis said that the Toronto organization has been doing all the time.... using the media to promote a reality that was not there. Weird where you see this and where you do not.

Is it possible Ottawa is inquiring about Luongo so that Murray could then turn around and trade him for the big D-man he wants? A three-way deal? Just thinking out loud.

You know you are correct. He was quoted the other day that they needed to get "more pressure in Poland.... I mean, The offensive zone." We all thought it was an oversight but now..... hummm....

Which is why canucks fans are retarded. You want a kings ransom for a shiit goalie who is 34, and has one of the worst contracts in the league.

Your GM has no leverage in negotiating.

- Surrender Monkey

No need to be insulting every fan from a team -- it only makes you look like an idiot, you know. It seems you're just ignorant of reality here. Luongo remains an elite goaltender no matter what your little brain thinks. His contract is long; his cap hit is absolutely fine. No more blanket insults, please especially with terms like you used. Are you old enough to even know what it means?

another source, an excellent source familiar with this, just confirmed to me that Toronto is the ONLY team even close to a deal, and that the Canucks are claiming a deal is on the table with the Flyers but have already said they won't do the one thing the Flyers require...taking back Bryz. this a game

I'm pretty sure he's injured, because I haven't actually seen him on the ice for the past two games.
