Quit telling fans of 29 other teams that they are idiots for not wanting to give up superstars and 1st round draft picks for Luongo.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. If Luongo hasn't been traded yet, it's a pretty good indication that either nobody wants him, or at the very least nobody is willing to give up signficant assets to get him.

And try to keep him mind: you haven't achieved anything. It's great that you cheer for the Canucks, but anyone can do that. It doesn't make you better than anyone who cheers for any other team, including the Leafs.

Absolutely agreed. Gillis and the Nucks insured that his value is limited when Schneider was anointed the starter. Every team in the league knows the Nucks have to trade Lu and his contract

Agreed. But that was done at the right time. Had they done that one or two years earlier, they may not have made the same kind of run.

My point is, when developing a team from the ground up, I think you first draft/acquire young talent, then you develop it through experience, and finally you make the 'impact' trades when you're ready to contend.

LA did it with Richards/Carter
Chicago did it with Hossa +
Anahiem did it with Pronger/Nieds.

I watched him play last year here in Buffalo and that kid played one helluva game here!

This isnt about Jeff Finger nor the leafs.....Gillies is a good GM imo and in his defense the Canucks offense is pretty banged up , probably one of the reasons why people are going saying things look bleak when on paper they actually have a good lineup able to contend for the cup.

BTW Nonis was handed Luongo on a platter by Keenan, Keenan was told to acquire some assets at the lowest possible cap and term. I don't think that was a strategic or fabulous negotiation by nonis anymore than getting a lucky phone call.
