I think tonight's game proved my point.

The Devils team defense tonight, especially in the first, was absolutely atrocious. The only saving grace was that Marty and the defenders were able to bail the forwards out every time. Volchenkov is such a great penalty killer and shut down guy, that he's needed. Putting in Larsson is redundant when Greene, Fayne, and Tallinder brings what he does and more.

Volchenkov got beat by one move. That's it, one guy caught him overcommitting from right to left so he went back on him.

Lol ya ok it proved your point. give me a break. i dont think you understand the word proof. our team was absolutely awful tonight at times in our own zone and it wasn't just the forwards it was everyone on the ice including the D. not saying having larsson in the lineup would have changed that but it far from proves anything

I was disappointed that Doc did not call the game!
Devs were definitely outplayed in that first period. Flyers had some good chances but Marty shut them down, he was the difference maker tonight imo.
PP still sucks, PK still excellent.
Have no problem with what Simmonds did, his team was down and he was trying to give them a spark. If he wanted to he could have really drilled Marty. I did like how the Devs responded to the Flyers goon tactics though, no backing down tonight. 48-0 here we come!

I think he is confused.

I dont think the Kings are good. They were one of the worst scoring teams in the league last season that got hot at the right time and that is still the way I feel about them.

It's only 2 games in but I think I am going to be right about Quick and the Kings shatting the bed this season.

Good things happening. Kovy continues to be a beast. Zajac seems to appreciate his raise, so far. Clarkson seems to always be in front of the net. Marty is Marty.

Despite a bad first period, the Devils made some adjustments and put together a great team defensive effort in frustrating the Flyers. Nice to see the playoff thought process from last year still seems to be alive. It will be grind, but I think the Devils can be a playoff team again.

With a strike shortened season, I'm not so sure the cream will rise to the top. They'll be some surprising teams in the mix and big streaks will make or break teams. Getting early wins against division rivals is key.
