I think its more because deboer wanted to shut down the flyers completely. He did take a bad penalty though.

It comes down to devils capitalizing on chances. Comes down to Marty > bryz. It didint help the flyers that they turned into babies when finally down 3-0 in the 2nd. They had time to come back had they some heart and brains. That was a joke, just like in last years playoffs against Pitt and against the devils, and I'm not just saying that to be a tool. This is what happens when they're down in a game, it's really embarrassing.

Man Marty really sucks. He's really showing his age. Lou should just force him to retire like he did to Mogilny. At least that way we could turn things around and aim to be a team as good as the Flyers and Rangers

Everyone knows Crosby did a lot of female doging and wining in his first year in the league. Giroux still does that poop now. I like that he is passionate about winning but he just plays stupid when he is emotional. Needs to learn to control his emotions. All he does is hurt the team and make a fool of himself.

That penalty was bullpoop. It was so weak. If that's what DeBoer benched him for, than that's really bullpoop.

I just figured it was a let's see what the other guys can do with Elias and Clarkson. He tried Matteau-Elias-Clarkson and then put Josefson between them.

The Devils team defense tonight, especially in the first, was absolutely atrocious. The only saving grace was that Marty and the defenders were able to bail the forwards out every time. Volchenkov is such a great penalty killer and shut down guy, that he's needed. Putting in Larsson is redundant when Greene, Fayne, and Tallinder brings what he does and more.

Volchenkov got beat by one move. That's it, one guy caught him overcommitting from right to left so he went back on him.

I said before that series started that it would be a circus. I wasn't disappointed. Giroux and Hartnell were the ring leaders.

Solid win tonight. 1st period was a little bad but still came out with a lead. The refs called a lot of penalties.

I would like to see Teddy play more, boost his confidence instead of benching him but thats just me, Pete knows more than I do.

Would like to see Larsson in but the team keeps winning.. I just don't know who you could take out. Sal-Zid is untouchable, Green-Fayne i like a lot they work well together. Tallinder- Volch is where I see could be moved.

Detroit is somewhere I see Lou could make a deal with.. There depleted on D but I don't know what they're willing to give up or if they even have anything to give up. but im just spit balling here.

I only got to watch the the highlites but from the looks of it our defense needs work. Flyers had a lot of chances that could have easily been goals if not for Marty playing out of his mind. I think defense will come because it takes time for the team to hit their stride and get back into the season but it's nice to know we can pick up wins early to get some points. Flyers are still a very gifted offensive team so it bodes well that we could survive through a team like them.

How's Matteau looking? He's already got a low number and from what I've seen I've liked. Tons of energy and a hard worker.

the clarkson goal was cheap and kovy shouldnt have gotten a penalty shot, he got a shot away. this is hardly a butt kicking, the play on the ice is pretty even.

Pretty sure they can award a penalty shot even if the player gets a shot off. If the defender does enough illegal stuff to make it so a reasonable chance was ruined they can get a penalty shot. I have to take a closer look at the play because I'm not exactly sure what happened.

Still way too early yet.

Not even high on the Sabres yet because it's too early. Sheesh it's two games.

I will give credit when its due and have no problem admitting when I am wrong just like how Quick and the kings look right now. Still too early.

We beat Philadelphia fairly easily as well, nothing to hang your hat on it appears.
