Here is the quote from the interview:

“We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have — and it’s not who anybody thinks it is — and so we have to wait.

I think it's the Islanders and they have to sort out the Vishnovsky situation. I also think that Schnieder is the one being traded. The last couple of interviews with Gillis he has brought up Luongo's NTC and I think he is setting it up so he can expain why he traded Schnieder and not Luongo

Schnieder, Raymond Ballard for Okposo and Hamonic.

Vancouver fans have reaaally got to realize nobody wants Ballard. Literally no one. As EDM fans don't put Horcoff in trade proposals, VAN fans should stopping putting Ballard in theirs.

Thats bullpoop Ian and I think even you know it.

Nuge still should have won even playing 3/4 of the season. The reason he didnt and people like you (by the way who is Gabs? Its Landy) want to knock down the number one guy all the time. Its jealousy and hate. Nuge clearly should have won.

- Iggysbff

Umm, no, I don't think so. Landeskog is a huge force out there. I'm not going to go as far as saying he would have won it had Nugent Hopkins played a full season anyway, but I'm saying I'm not sure he wouldn't have either. It would have made it a good race.

Esplen is half right on this one. Landeskog has WAY more impact on a game than points. He's a complete player, and personally, I would easily rather have him on my team than RNH. Even with the difference in points, which isn't as much as you guys seem to want to think.

i don't understand how you can give the Calder to Smith the way Tarasenko and Huberdeu have come out flying, and with Schutlz and Yaks....

Schroeder never reported to Chicago. He was in a hotel in Vancouver. I guess it was a numbers thing maybe the Canucks wanted to figure out who to keep Vandy or Barker. Send one down and bring back Schroeder but I'm assuming he'll be the second line center tomorrow night.

The proposal was a joke, but I still think the Islanders are the team.

Washington may have some legs, time will tell. They have depth and they're only missing the top end goaltender.
- LeftCoaster

Plus both goalies are RFA's after this season, they have plenty of cap space and if Vancouver can get Tom Wilson out of the deal it is a very nice return.

It's tough to say. The Nuge has some serious offensive potential. Landeskog is the better all around player and leader. It's a tough call...I guess it depends on team needs.

I understand that proposal was a joke, but it seems every trade that Van fans say should happen includes Ballard

I think they'd be going for a more offrensevly gifted player. I'd love Wilson but we already have Kassian, who's better. Gillis is afraid of Russians so none of those. I'd say they have a couple Swede prospects that would fit the bill.

For the same reason every Leafs trade includes Komisarek.

I think most of us realize that (when we're being serious). Ballard is buy-out candidate #1 for the Canucks this summer.

Exactly, and I stress in my post, I said “personally” I would prefer. I fully realize there are others that will disagree, and others that will agree. I think Esplen is as far off in saying Landeskog WOULD win it anyway, as the Oiler guy is in saying RNH should have won it anyway. I’d say it would be a VERY close call, had Nugent Hopkins played the full season, but the injury clinched it for Landeskog, and because of the injury, it’s an easy call.

A couple of years ago every single Montreal trade proposal was Ryder, Halak and 2nd. According to MTL fans that package was good enough for any player in the league. Luongo, Raymond and Ballard is our version of Ryder, Halak and a 2nd. No rational fan expects Ballard to be traded for anything.

Byng-St Louis or Eberle
Vezina-Lundqvist or Rask(darkhorse)
Jack Adams-Hitchcock

Pass it to Bulis ‏@passittobulis
And there it is. Canucks recall Jordan Schroeder. He's got big shoes to fill. Actually, wait, Ebbett's shoes are pretty small.

seems to be the oiler fan's equivalent to Paajarvi and a 2nd/1st for anybody along the lines of Subban or Del Zotto. Most don't see that Paajarvi's value is at an all time low and that no team would possibly accept that deal.

Forgot about Rask. Agreed, he is a good darkhorse candidate.

Re Tarasenko, I'm not sure how long that spike will last given that he's playing on the 3rd line (even though STL seem to roll their top 3 lines almost equally).

I really like when a 3rd or 4th round pick is included in any trade proposal by a fan.

Because Komi for Subban is stupid, but when you think about it, Komi and a 3rd for Subban would be a good deal for both teams. Montreal gets a vet who was an all-star in Montreal, plus a 3rd to restock their prospects, while ridding themselves of a guy with a bad attitude who wants too much money...

I was thinking tarasenko would win it before his last two games. I feel like Tarasenko and Kuznetsov are the two best prospects in the game and whenever they would step in to the NHL they would win the Calder. Tarasenko's hot start is sort of helping my theory but still only a small sample size and anything can happen.

In the end of the day it comes down to the fact that no fan base would like to see a player currently contributing to their team leave. Hence the obsession to shove in bunches of fringe or AHL players to somehow raise the value with quantity over quality.
