Cut Mr. Esplen some slack: dude's gotta file a column, and the Canucks have an off day in the schedule.

It sure beats a blog on the possibility of Lu being traded to Toronto.

- Atomic Wedgie

Tony G has reported that Luongo squashed a deal to Torana, he has no interest in playing there...so they say?

him and Burkie are renting a barn as we speak...I don't like Brian's chances though!
- LeftCoaster

Something I've always wondered: is "renting a barn" an actual term people use to describe a desire to fight, or was Burke really going to rent a barn?

As I understand it, he was really going to rent an actual farm barn.

I like them both too.

I found last year that Gabs is the kind of player you notice every shift and that Nuge is one of those guys you can kind of lose track of and at the end he's got three points.

both are outstanding players.

- IanEsplen

Defnitely, i also don't think a lot of people around the league don't realize just how good of a 2way player Nuge is.

I have no idea who Tony G is, but who knows?

He's always said in the media he wouldn't oppose a deal to Toronto.

Which may or may not indicate his thinking.

I'm not so sure Vancouver is actively shopping him at the moment. Might be better to wait a week or two - and hope that other goalies around the league falter, and Schneider calms the nerves of his team mates.

The only people it's a pressing issue for are the media, they're in a frenzy feeding off this. I don' think it's a big deal for Gillis right now, he seems a stubborn guy, he'll get what he wants or he'll wait.

"In July 2008, Gary Bettman stepped in and held a conference call with the two GMs, telling them to end their public feuding.

But that wasn't the only advice he gave Brian Burke with regard to that feud: Bettman also informed him that renting a barn in Lake Placid with the explicit intent of having a fist-fight with another NHL general manager is generally frowned upon."

He had the RNH line matched up against the twins all night. They were ok, but that isn't a good matchup IMO.

I like Eberle/Nuge/Hall and the they maybe be ready one day, but there is no way they are ready to go up against two scoring champs yet.

And you can ask any Canucks fan on here, AV is pretty bad at matching up himself, so if he is dictating the matchups there is an issue with your coach.

- IanEsplen

On he road you rarely get who you want on the ice. Matching lines is much easier to do at home.

I dont think all you predictions stink. But I have a hard time with a few.

Calder - Tarasenko's to lose. Has been for a while. Yak and Schultz may be in the list. Some dark horses - Baertchi and Connacher

Lady Bing - Wouldnt call Rbs a dark horse as he was a finalist last year.

Adams - Paul McLean

Hart - I love Datsyuk, but I dont think the wings even sniff at the top of the west. Maybe out of the playoffs. I think the Hart will be a dark horse. Not ready to go out on a limb yet though.

Just drop the Luongo talk.

everyone knows he is going to Boston, the Bruins are jusy working on finding a plane that is big enough for Marchand's nose so he can be shipped out west.

Nuge had a pretty good size lead a week in last year. Where did he finish?
- IanEsplen

Tied for points with the calder winner in 20 less games??

And if it was such a stupid idea to match up Hall/Nuge/Ebs against the sedins, how is it that they finished a plus 1 and ebs scored?

I'm starting to think youre like cloutier in that all your blogs are just trolling in favour of your team.

Even if he was healthy it would have been a toss up imo.

If I had a vote, it would have went to Gabs

top 25 in +/- (+20)
top 20 in hits (219)
top 30 for forwards in BLKs (58)
top 30 in takewawys (58, forwards)

It would be close, but Gabs was the more complete player last year. he played the PP and PK and was able to contribute at both ends.

- IanEsplen

Thats bullpoop Ian and I think even you know it.

Nuge still should have won even playing 3/4 of the season. The reason he didnt and people like you (by the way who is Gabs? Its Landy) want to knock down the number one guy all the time. Its jealousy and hate. Nuge clearly should have won.

Obviously not Gillis is using Torana as leverage. Luongo wants to win a cup. It's either a winner or home Florida/Tampa

I'd say

Florida, Tampa, Philly and Washington. He said he has a deal in place with a team nobody talks about he could be BSing or telling the truth, but I've said all along Washington needs goaltending. They have cup aspirations and Holtby could easily have been a flash in the pan, like a lot of goalies. That's what makes Luongo so valuable. Goalies come a go...people name top goalies in the league every year and a lot seems to change other than Lundqvist, Rinne and Luongo.

It's one guys opinion and he can choose who he wants, it makes no difference to me. So many trolls from other teams coming in here spouting crap about who he chose because it's not who they like is a f'n joke. Bytching just to bytch because they are bytches.

So they would've chosen the two-way player over the guy who, if not injured, was en-route to a 69 point season? don't think so

Finally, someone has the guts to make predictions other than VANTEL

Only one that I would say you're nuts on is Toews. Good player, but I don't think he is winning the Lady Byng

Here is the quote from the interview:

“We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have — and it’s not who anybody thinks it is — and so we have to wait.

I think it's the Islanders and they have to sort out the Vishnovsky situation. I also think that Schnieder is the one being traded. The last couple of interviews with Gillis he has brought up Luongo's NTC and I think he is setting it up so he can expain why he traded Schnieder and not Luongo

Schneider, Raymond Ballard for Okposo and Hamonic.
