Do you think Oilers have the right people to take a run at the cup? I said it when the drafted Yakupov they have a team of first liners . No D and no toughness. I still believe it. |

Oilers.Flyers are plenty tough.
The team I think will be in the cup this year is Bruins. |

Oh you`re right, they have no balance. Look who Chic. and Pitt took with their top picks to built their teams. I think Oiler managment is to affraid to be embarrassed by not taking the best player, instead of drafting to fill holes. If there is no one to fill the hole you have at your draft possition, then trade down and pick up more lower picks. They are going to have to trade some of these guys away to fill the holes. |

I agree /They have the horses to make those trades.
Just some random thoughts for trades like Yakupov + for Lucic would be a good start
Lucic RNH Eberle
Hall Gagner Hemskey
Yakupov
A trade maybe later in the year that might be considered if Kassian becomes a bull on the Sedin line
LU Kassian /Gagner Eberle. .I know they will sh!t .If the season unfolds and they struggle they may decide to make moves. Otherwise they are 5 years away. |

Agreed . He is better than most backups . Soon as he is healthy and played a few games ,he may get called up - VANTEL
Bottom line Lack needs playing time he isn't gonna get it with Corey or Rob. kid needs to play./ |

So does LU. Our backup should play less than 10 games this year . We need not put a 5.3 mil guy in that spot. |

How scary is it that we've been blown out by the Ducks and lost to the Oilers who are getting (frank)ed up by the Sharks on national TV? (frank)!! - Nucker101

Come on dude! Eberle is one of the most valuable trading chips in all of hockey, I doubt that Lu and Kassian alone would even be considered for a second. |

Finally a reasonable rumour. I'd do that in a heartbeat, Bailey's been a bust for where he was drafted but he's still serviceable and has upside. Visnovsky is solid, he's obviously not a tough defensive guy, but a great replacement for Ehrhoff and would help our PP and offense in general big time. Nabokov would be solid as a backup as well. It fits MG's comments too since they need to work things out with Visnovsky before a deal gets done. Plus it frees up a buyout if needed since Ballard would be gone.
Count me in! |

They should split it if he isn't moved or play the hot one of the two. Two #1's can work but the problem is one wants out and has to be moved. Both will be showcased and one will be gone. Everyone says LU because he asked to be. Well I don't know this is a weird situation. |

MG did say that a deal in a place(with a surprise team/player) and that the other team needs to do something with one of their players befoore a deal could get done. Bringing Visnovsky back to to the NHL fits that description and he's still a top 4 d-man, huge upgrade over Ballard. Bailey can fill in a 2LC and then move back to 3LC when Kesler is back, from what I've read he's a decent two-way player. |

I think Bailey will be another body somewhere in our bottom 6. Vis (if NYI can get him to come back for a trade to VAN) would make one of our D expendable (Edler, Garison, Vis make for a lot of offense). Nabokov is a downgrade from Lu but would be an excellent back-up.
It's better than a cap dump, but for me to love this trade I'd like to see one of our D traded for a 2nd line playmaker. |

Sorry man. You're right. Just watched a documentary on the fact that 4 years later there's been no criminal prosecution of any Wall Street execs. Got me snappy but just saw the Oil got thrashed so I'm calm again. |

Honestly, Gillis can't afford to be picky and that's the best/most reasonable rumoured deal I've seen during all these months. Nothing wrong with having 5 top 4 d-men, and it would boost our forwards production just by adding a guy like Visnovsky. Who knows, maybe Kassian ends up as a main stay with the Twins(frees Burrows for the 2nd) or Schroeder surprises, and if that doesn't work then you can always explore trade options at the deadline but at least the Lu and Ballard's contracts are gone and so is the goalie distraction.
IMO Gillis would be stupid to turn that down, if he wants more then he's simply asking a price that will never be met.
Only problem I see is that Lu wouldn't go to Long Island. |
