Agreed . He is better than most backups . Soon as he is healthy and played a few games ,he may get called up - VANTEL
They're keeping his injury pretty secret. I have a feeling it's worse than most think, and even when he gets back they'll have him basically back-up on the Wolves for the rest of the season, as he won't be ready to take a lot of games.
He was supposed to start skating yesterday, but who knows how close that makes him to playing a game. Haven't seen how his skate went yet.
I'd love to see him in a Canucks jersey sometime this season, but he would have to have a miraculous bounce back from injury.
Too bad—he was pretty impressive to watch last season, especially in the San Antonio series (even though they lost). |

Don't you want to see his first game in the NHL before you label him better than most back ups?

It's a bit of a horse-before-the-cart statement, but I'm inclined to agree. He showed Schneider-like dominance in the AHL after October, last season, on a team that was worse than the Moose team that Schneider backstopped.
But you do have a point... |

How scary is it that we've been blown out by the Ducks and lost to the Oilers who are getting (frank)ed up by the Sharks on national TV? (frank)!! |

And some defensive forwards with size and some better defensemen. Dubnyk couldn't didn't really stand a chance but he didn't even make one very good save to bail them out on 6 goals either. Quick, Schneider, etc poop the bed early too so I doubt that Tambellini is jumping ship right now. |

Fair enough, but we can't afford a month off in a 48 games schedule. What scared me watching the Flames broadcast yesterday was when they mentioned that Feaster hired a stats/video analyst and he found that around 12 or 13% of games usually go to OT/Shootouts and that numbers doubles when you play against your own conference so it's close to 25% of inter-conference games that go past regulation time.
What that tells me is that there won't be a huge disparity between teams and in the standings this season so teams with injuries or that struggle in OT and/or shootouts are screwed big time. And it's why the Feaster signed Hudler and Cervanka for shootout help.
I'm not saying that we're going to miss the playoffs(I'd still be very surprised if we do), but the chances are higher than we'd like to think. |

Dubnyk looked pretty decent during the last 40 games or so of last year. Their D also looked improved heading into this season with Schultz, Schultz, Whitney, Potter, Petry and Smid, obviously they lack a workhorse type of guy but it was definitely better than what they've had in years past. I still think that they'll be right there in the playoff race. |

They're facing a veteran team tonight who's clearly in form. I know a bunch of them were playing in Europe (inc Niemi). I don't want to make excuses for the Nucks but were we in Game 10 form I think we'd deal with EDM handily.
EDM are a team that are 2 solid D and 1 quality G away from something special IMO. A quality G would be the most valuable of those 3 positions. That said I agree, I can see them competing for the playoffs this season. |

No pressure on the second half . Games didn't matter then. His D gives up to many chances. |

Their forwards are soft . They have all Gretky and Kurris and no Meesiers to be visious and dirty. They will get bounced around. |

No argument there. Nuge definitely does. I imagine Yakupov will too. Hall will fill out more and he holds his own mostly. Eberle is crafty, seems to evade hits Datsyuk-style. |

Hall may fill out more but is not viscious enough. Look at the last 10 teams to win the cup. They all had a skilled player you needed to keep your head up or get plowed. No team toughness. |

I'm more worried about the Avalanche, of all the teams in the NW they are the ones that I could see making a serious run. The moves they made at the deadline last year an their FA signings with all the young talent, watch out! |
