I heard. my wife got booted off the train at Montpellier, had to go pick her up from there and take her to the metro.

my kid's friend's dad works for AMT and he says the trains are cheapass and they can't handle the cold. which is pretty much when you don't want your trains to break down and have to throw a trainload of people out on the ramps.

Extreme wind chills again this morning.

This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A renewed blast of Arctic air moved over Southern Manitoba overnight in the wake of a cold front sweeping down from the north, bringing a return to extreme wind chill values. The coldest conditions will be between Winnipeg and Brandon, where northerly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will produce wind chill values in the minus 40 to minus 45 range. The extreme wind chill values are expected to moderate by this afternoon as winds diminish.

At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin will occur in less than 10 minutes.
