You don't think the situation was blew slightly out of proportion because of how scrutinized the Habs are? They were talking about him EVERY (frank)ing day. Gomez would still be an overpaid player with the isles for what he brings to a team, don't get me wrong. But the guy is not washed up. He's a very good skater and a pretty adamant playmaker. He would have probably been bought-out at the end of the year anyway, because his contract was one of the worst of the league, but the guy can still play in the NHL. - QuebecPride
That totally explains his 40 assists the last two years, well done... |

You think they'll get caught someday? I doubt Halifax, Québec, Moncton, Saint-John or Rimouski ever will here, Courteau is at their feet. |

That's still unacceptable, you're right. But Halifax legitimately drafted him at #2. Unlike Québec who drafted Duclair in the 3rd round for example.
The coaching certainly wasn't the best in Baie-Comeau last year, but you know it wasn't the sole reason. I'm tired of kids bailing out on teams to fit their(parents and agents) needs. - QuebecPride
Get used to QP.
Watch Pat Roy, he is famous for getting guys who were headed elsewhere.
This is mostly a "Q" thing. Like it or not there are a lot of kids who don't know french and don't need that stress.
I know other kids from here that have been drafted to remote french locations and simply couldn't deal with it. In many cases the coach can't communicate with them the french players don't want them there.
Like it or not this is more of a reality than you might like to admit |

No. They'll just punish Kitchener and Windsor some more. Kingston might be the most pathetic team in the CHL (Outside of like Prince Albert and those other remote teams) nobody wants to play there despite it being a decent city and pretty accessible. |

I know French is harder to learn than English. But the situation is the same for Québec kids who have to go in the maritimes. I haven't heard much about franco kids bailing on 'say PEI or Cape-Breton.
I'm aware of that reality, don't worry. That's a huge reason why Sherbrooke will be able to attract anglo kids vs other 'Q Québec cities, because Sherbrooke has anglo schools at every level.
I can't speak for every teams, but I got coached by Judes Vallée (who coaches the Phoenix now and has coaches Victoriaville previously) and I fondly remember him telling us that it was important for us to learn english, because that's how it rolls in the 'Q. He seemed to think every practices were run in English. As I said, I wouldn't be surprised it wasn't always the case everywhere. But all in all, the terms we franco use in hockey are English terms, so a kid shouldn't be too lost following the directives.
