It would take some kind of personal falling out between Bergevin and Subban for them to move him, unless somebody moves in with such a great offer they have to say yes.
- Jsaquella

Can he walk by the coach, not acknowledge him, all the while, te coach staring daggers through him and tell the GM " I've payed my last game in Montreal"

Not necessarily.

Let's say the following is given:

Team A has no contracts they want/need to buyout.
Team A is on a surprising run and might make the playoffs.
Team A decides a late pick is worth Briere for a few months to get into the playoffs.
....

- jstross

And they have to be willing to pay millions to Briere and carry a Cap hit for the next 4 years, just to allow the Flyers to re-sign Briere at a lower Cap hit, after they buy him out.

I've been beating this drum for a long time now.

This team plays better when they play with emotion. When they get a little dirty, and get that snarl.

I see none of that. They are playing like zombies. No swagger as Bill put it.

They need guys like Sestito to infuse some insanity. To infuse some emotion, some snarl, some mojo.

Its where the saying comes from... UNLEASH THE PEANUTS!

This team sucks playing as a "machine". Let them run wild and leave out the x's and o's.

No question. Not even sure if an Offer Sheet is allowed at this point. Plus the Flyers need to have the Cap space to do it.

They wouldn't have to carry the cap hit.

You have to be just a little bit worried this person might be Paul if a few more losses pile up early.
- canadianpenfan

It's possible that they will make a bold move, and I'm not against it. Just as long as it's not a short sighted move, or a move for the sake of making a move.

all you have to do is tell subban what you're willing to pay him and mtl either has to trade or match. You don't even have to offer sheet him until you're ready.

Talent does not automatically mean effort. The most talented team and players can play with a lack of fire and effort. A Coach can only do so much. I don't feel that it is a Coaching problem. I feel it is a player problem. Each player simply has to play better.
- MJL

I agree with this but I just think emotional coaches have a short shelf life for success. I think Lavy has reached his expiration date.

Correct. My mistake. It would be a compliance buyout. But still not a likely scenario.

They are definately missing guys like Briere, Gagne, Jagr, Forsberg, Knuble, etc up front.

The leadership. The kids look overwhelmed to me.

Edmonton may be another potential trading partner. 5-1 now in the first period.

Edmonton is fun to watch, but they are still just a bunch of kids playing pond hockey. You can tell the talent is there, but no structure.

I agree with your first point. I just don't think they're at that point yet.

A team has to evolve and move on. There are plenty of players on this team to lead.

You think Phx would bite on a Read centered deal for Yandle?

I'd hate to lose Read but it'd save the Yotes some cash, something they've been rumored to be looking to do with Yandle.

If Lava gets fired for the rag tag crew Holmgren put on defense that is brutal.

If this team had the talent I would consider it, but look at the lineup and compare it to the other top teams. They simply, are not that good. Whatever happens this season happens imo. See which of the kids still have balls by the end, and which of them have given up.

How would we trade with them? They don't have the D we need. We don't have the D they need.

Letting go of Lavi would be a big mistake imo.

Not sure about that. An offer would have to be pretty high to be successful. Not even sure an Offer Sheet is allowed at this point.
