Peter Laviolette shook up the forward line combinations at the morning skate today. Here are the lines that skated together, per the Camden Courier Post.

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Fedotenko - Couturier - Read
McGinn - B. Schenn - Simonds
Wellwood - Laughton - Talbot

Timonen - L. Schenn
Grossmann - Coburn
Meszaros - Gervais

Bryzgalov

- bmeltzer[Leighton]

That line up of forwards will look a lot better with Briere in it.
Unless Simmonds and Jake V and B Schenn start scoring soon.

Can someone refresh my memory?
I know Bourdon has concussion issues, but forget what injury Gusty has.

The Luongo rumor to Philly creeps me out.
Just say no, Homer.

That will never happen.

Right?

Gustafsson has a foot/ankle injury.
- bmeltzer

Any idea of when he will be ready to play?

Unless Van wants Bryz for some strange reason it doesn't make any sense.

Phillies signed Delmon Young. I didn't realize the NL now has the designated hitter.

Edit: For 750K, a no brainer.

who played left field last time they won a championship??

but anyway, if it's really that cheap that's solid. hardly any risk

Nope. 3rd rounder. .

But he bounced around the Habs line-up and was older than JvR when he made his debut. Very inconsistent and had a lot of trouble finding a role in Montreal.

I'm not saying LeClair was a stiff in Montreal, but he really didn't blossom until he landed on Lindros' wing.

I was thinking a Lonnie Smith/Del Unser platoon.

Walk away yup. She is a good one and I'd better hang on to her. Though, if you'd have caught me Sunday, when my inlaws were visiting I'd have probably shipped her off for future considerations

Bryz has not been the problem. Someone was saying in her yesterday that the boobird floodgates will open when he does actually let in a bad one this season. So far, he has done what he has needed to do. I'm not a Luongo fan. His post season record is not exactly a big selling point.

I bet you'd be surprised at how he stacks up all time in playoff stats. He's got a couple bad games on his resume that over shadow a lot of great games that he stole for Vancouver.

If Carle is a turnstile, then how can you say they lost anything there? Contradicting yourself there a little.

- MJL

Because, if you actually read what I wrote, I mentioned he was a good puck mover. Defensively, he was a turnstile. Kind of the opposite of Grossmann. You need puck movers, and you need defensive-minded defenseman. It's a rare player that excels at both. So yes, they lost a puck-moving defenseman who was subpar defensively. But I'm sure you're 100% right, somehow.

I'm a huge Luongo fan but I wouldn't trade for him. If they did I'd be happy though. I'd rather sign him after Vancouver buys him out.

Good to hear.. I got him late in my pool and thought he wasn't missing too much time. I think the Flyers will look much better once he's back.

The missing step is to obviously hire Garth Snow as the new GM.

No. I'll keep Holmgren thank you. I like a GM with guts even if it doesn't always work out perfectly. I wish they drafted better outside the first round. That's my only complaint with the front office. The occasional hidden gem would be nice.

Still ticked that Ozark never replaced Luzinski with Jerry Martin allowing the Dodgers to steal the game.

they were my 2nd team back in the early to mid 90s, until they gutted that squad, brought in messier and changed uniforms for the 92nd time. i've never been able to quite recapture my feelings for them, but i was obviously disappointed they lost against boston. the 94 loss against ny was as bad a flyers cup loss. it was like losing to the rangers and the oilers at the same time. good lord, i was pissed.

I wouldn't say that Carle excelled defensively. But I would disagree that Carle was defensively a turnstile, or that he was subpar defensively. That's an innacurate description in my opinion. Carle was solid in his own end. Nothing special, but he was reliable. And a very good shot blocker.

At the very least, you could do worse than Carle as far as defensive play among puck movers.

Lets cut to the chase. Carle sucked, was overpaid, and is gone.

Yes, turnstile was harsh. And I know he was the popular defensive whipping boy. There were just too many instances where he was caught standing still or waving his stick as he watched a forward go flying past him towards the goalie. I know you have to take the good with the bad, but not at the price he got. So I'll relent; they lost a good puck-mover who had a share of defensive shortcomings.

Its unfortunate that you allow your disdain for certain players to blind you of their ability.
