Lets wait and see how this season settles in and everyone gels before making broad pronouncements about this team.
- FlyersFirst

Im going off years of watching this team. They lost.talent during the off season. To expect them to be better.then last year seems crazy to me...

I dont want them to lose. Just being real.

I would add Couturier and Brayden Schenn to that list as well. With Timonen coming off the back surgery and have not played during the lockout, I fully expected some issues early; he's done about how I expected. Meszaros has played better than expected.

2?

I like luke a hell of alot more than brayden. Brayden does nothing for me.

- Flyersgod

I think you need to give Brayden some time. He is young with not a whole lot of NHL experience.

Apparantly he's good in the lockerroom and lockerroom guys are worth $1 mill + even if they don't play. At least that's what I gather from watching the flyers.

Jody's thrilled that the flyers greatly value and reward a wonderful personality

Down the stretch last year, he was a force. Was also excellent in Penguins series, although I suspect he got injured (despite continuing to play) after the Asham cheapshot.

I think Jake V has to step it up as well... The fact that we have a list of 6-7 players who clearly need to improve, it's no shock that we're 0-2

Maybe so.. he is one of those players I have a tough time getting behind. Maybe the hype he came with im not sure..

I hope he does well.

I totally agree. I think Brayden has a ton of potential. But if you guys decide that you want to get rid of him we'll gladly give you Tangradi or Paul Martin for him.

This is a MUST WIN for the Flyers. No team has ever won a game after losing their first 3. True fact. (Don't) Look it up.

Does anyone else not get all warm and fuzzy seeing Talbot on the second line?? I know that will change when Briere is back but even with the year Max had last year he is more of a 3rd/4th line winger.

Defensively we are.lacking as a team. We are shut down easily by teams like the rangers and devils like last years playoffs.

Im guessing you disagree?

- Flyersgod

I think there are some areas where the team needs to be better, and needs young players to grow. And is missing some peices. But last year is last year. Make the playoffs and anything can happen. Did you pick the Devils or the LA Kings to go to the Finals or win the Cup last year? I know I didn't.

2 games isn't nearly enough of a sample size for my taste but I have noticed the struggles of some of the sophomores that Bill pointed out. I am also pleasantly surprised by Kurtis Foster. He has been serviceable, but, like I said, it's only been 2 games.

I like what I've seen from Giroux, Simmonds, and Bryz.

The defense has looked sloppy, slow, and out of position at times. Buffalo really took advantage of that. I know (hope) that over time the sloppiness and positioning will come back. It has to, because the speed isn't there so they're going to have to be smarter to be successful.

I think Bryz was a little frustrated with the D-men, too. I think it was after the fourth Buffalo goal he kind of raised his arms and shook his head as if to say "wtf?"

I think in general the offense is trying to get it going but it seems to me that many of them are really rusty. Passes aren't crisp; stickhandling is sloppy. Again, time should help that.

Meanwhile, they need to stay out of the box while they're working to get back into rhythm because the PK is flat out awful.

Big game tonight. Go Flyers!

Man, a lot of debbie downers.
Lets wait until game 10 or so to really evaluate. Having 20 hours between games to make adjustments, both for players and coaches is hardly enough.
Even if they lose tonight, but show progress in those areas of glaring weakness it can be a successful night.

Jake seems to be really pressing, trying to do too much it seems. It's like he feels that he needs to be the one to score on his line.
Also, the amount of low-percentage passes on the PP need to stop. I'd rather fire a shot on goal and hope for a rebound that some of these cross-ice passes through 3 people.

Exactly. A lot of people have been writing this team off after 2 games. That's plain foolish. The Rangers are also 0-2 and no one seems to mention that.

I dont think this team can win the cup this year.So i would not be too upset if we end up with a top 5 pick this year. For the record i am not wishing for losses but if theydont have what it takes to win, this is a good year to tank.

Do you think he can be a dynamic 1st line winger with Giroux or does he have to be moved back, possibly to his more natural center position?

Its hilarious. This team is stockpiled with young talent.. and there are people female doging that they will not win. They were sloppy.. no doubt about it, but they didnt get destroyed this past weekend. The Pitt game there were about 10 pucks that dribbled through the crease. G was on a clear as day breakaway that was called offside (tough tough call to make there) and they were playing for the first time in 8 months. 2-1 with an empty netter is not a bad game.

The Sabres game was the second game in 18 hours, the team traveled (it looked like by bus according to Rinaldos tweet) and took the ice in less than 24 hours and came out slow.. they looked fantastic in the 2nd period, had a few goals disallowed and then struggled in the final 6 minutes of the game.

Here is a good idea people.. calm down.
