If I'm trading those assets, it's not for Bobby Ryan or any other Winger. I'm doing it to add the defenseman that is needed. A Winger is not the need on this team in my opinion. The real need is for a #1 defenseman.
- MJL

Hey I'd love to have Bobby Ryan on this team too. But putting a big package together, it better be for a Pietrangelo type d-man. We have similar players like Bobby Ryan (Hartnell, Simmonds, potentially Schenn).

If Holmgren wants to pursue a forward, I'd prefer a pure sniper (J Carter ). Not saying they should trade for Carter, but someone like him. I feel we have plenty of power forwards and playmakers.

Ryan is young and still devolping though..

I see what youre saying. And I think there is nothing wrong with wanting a flyer fan to play for us

- Flyersgod

He is younger, and it's great that he's a local kid. That said, if it boiled down to Ryan or Subban, I'd go after Subban first

Nope, just finally past the point where we're "in the clear" and "the relatives have been told."

At least somebody put the lockout to good use.

Congrats, Skip

Clarke, Lindros, Forsberg and Roenick in my mind were all great players but they had help. Scott Hartnell isn't exactly John LeClair. If you can upgrade to help Giroux, you should.
- SuperSchennBros

Not at all costs, imo. And we've got plenty of talented forwards to try with Giroux. You could argue you don't want to be plugging guys in all season, but on that same note there's absolutely no assurance Bobby Ryan will have any chemistry with Giroux. The forward corps is staffed well enough that we can wait for the right chance to upgrade, no need for a panic move.

It's not, actually. I remember watson or someone posting it and hoped Google would reward my (lame) effort this afternoon.

Plus, I actually like Wayne Fish. He's not like the majority of the beat writers at all.

and he's not even worth thinking about, imo. start with couts and schenn, and probably not enough. similar situation with OEL. unless something get's really foul between them and the team, i see no possible way the team would even consider moving them

i think we have to shoot a little lower than that (or at least less proven) and hope it works out. but who knows

Until LeClair played with Lindros, he wasn't exactly John LeClair himself.

Let's not forget that Ryan has spent a lot of time playing with Getzlaff and Perry.

Evander Kane would be a good option since it seems like he's one more call on his stack-of-money-phone away from getting shipped out of Winnipeg.

I'd rather forget and hope he has a magical season while playing so well that another defenseman is not needed because Ryab will be like a one-man-five-man person.

Exactly. Seravalli tweets or posts on philly.com the word "Injury" and fans are all over it like fish at feeding time (no pun intended because of Wayne).

Well, Perry could be a UFA in summer. I'd take that nasty bastard.
