Was there last night ....the ACC blew as always.
Not even a Colton Orr knock-out punch to the solarplex was enough to get the crowd going. Great moment for Orr ...never seen a body shot knock down in hockey before!
Nice games from Kadri, Lupul and Kessel up front. Liles looks like he's found his game too. Scrivens was good.
All with a grain of salt ...b/c I had a thick pair of beer goggles on. |

Scott got tagged twice pretty good ...
Oh and the fact kaleta didn't leave the ice in a body bag is a joke...
If he didn't want to fight Orr should have just mugged him like kaleta did to kessel - The_Vark
THIS.
I was really hoping we'd show a little bit of grit after that...but the rest of the team seemed okay that our best player got sucker punched from behind by a rat. |

I noticed that....the crowd didn't get into the game until we scored the 1st goal.
No go leafs go chants, nothing.
That said, I'm sure a lot of business deals were made while the suits were getting their sushi during the intermission. |

I'm going to start calling Grabovski "crapovski" if he doesn't start playing like a 5.5 million player |

Game #2. With no pre-season game to (re)build chemistry. Chill. |

He played during the lockout, and he looks slow and sluggish. So far, he's been useless in the offensive zone. |

I don't know if it'll be the case all season, but so far, what strikes me is how important goaltending is. Most teams are out of sync which leads to all sorts of turnovers and whatnot. A hot start from a hot goalie could very well dictate if a team will make the post-season or not. |

Still only game #2. Even if he played during the lockout, it doesn't mean much.
Look at the Flyers, I think 16 of their players played during the lockout. They're still having a pretty rough start to the season. |

I don't think you can judge any team till at least the 7 game mark. Until then this all what would normally be training camp and pre-season.
I'm just happy that SO FAR they are playing very good defensively. |

I agree, although, the Leafs look pretty decent defensively, and Scrivens hasn't been bad. |

Makes for a few "exciting" offensive bursts, but pretty average games to watch overall. |

Ya I wonder if Leaf nation is ready for the Carlyle type of team. Very conservative. Games can be downright boring.
One thing though. Very unlikely that the team will ever get blown out. |

Most habs fans hated Jacques Martin. Mostly because of his "boring" type of system. But the guy was paid to win games, with the team he had (which wasn't very good). The way I see it, yes, some games were pretty boring, but if anything, the Habs vastly overachieved under Jacques Martin. |

As much as I'm disappointed in Grabovsky right now, I have no doubt he'll get his poop together with a few more games. I'm more worried about Kulemin right now, I don't give it very long before he gets demoted to the third line. Kadri's been earning his chance at a proper top 6 role, and as long as Bozak's getting points and winning 80%+ of his faceoffs, his home may likely be on the second line. |

the way i have been seeing things shape out i'd like a look at:
JVR Kadri Kessel
Lupul Grabovski Mac
Kulemin Bozak Komarov
Orr McClement Brown
either way, you can tell the leafs havent found their scoring stride.. I mean as a whole they are only scoring at a 1.5 GPG pace.. and Kadri is at 1 GPG
that means the rest of lineup outside of Kadri has been responsible for half a goal a game |

It was a generally good effort despite Carlyle shoe-horning Holzer and Fraser into their first games in a long while (or first ever in Holzer's case). Very impressed with Kostka right now, but I think they need to reduce his minutes to let him further get used to the game...don't want him to start making Phaneuf-like mistakes because he's tired.
Scrivens has been what the Leafs have needed so far...steady and making the saves he should be making. I don't blame him on either goal, the first one was a Sabres' bounce, and the second was a 1-on-0 where he was simply out-waited. |
