Dude, chill. I'm not overating, I said a poor man's Rafie. You do know Rafie showed up in the NHL at 27, got big minutes and ran with it. As for Finger, could Finger skate? Does Finger have anything close to Koska's offensive abilities? Are they even the same type of d? And what's wrong with the Dempsey comparison? Now if I said g UG, Kostka's a future all star, lay off him, then maybe you'd have reason to jump on my comment. - mykokes
Jeff Finger also broke into the NHL in his late 20s after spending years in the AHL. He had one good year with the Avalanche and the you know the rest of the story. And if you read what I originally wrote, I said "the new software come with offensive ability". So I already said that part.
Kostka is a nice story. It's nice to see the hometown guy work his ass off and finally get a shot with his home town team. But the reality is, he's a depth defender who is playing above his head at the peak of his career. There are plenty of guys like this who come and go every year.

ah hell.. in a way i'm okay with him in st louis.. i've known mcdonald since kindergarden.. so i kinda root for them.. they're my western team to cheer for. - Dozzer
They're a good group of hard workers. It's hard to say how good they'd be without Hitchcock, though.
That is a team, much like Tippett's Coyotes, that relies on the coach. He's got them all buying in and they look great as a unit. No superstars, but a ton of depth. |

Can't really fault Ben for this game but I know what you mean..... First goal, no chance at all but the second goal, even though it was point blank, you cannot let that puck go through you. An experienced NHL goalie would of stopped that most times or forced him to a harder shot like a top hand corner/under the crossbar type of goal. But again, it's just his inexperience and that's the stuff we will deal with this year.
It's not bad goaltending, it's just inexperienced goaltending in my opinion.
I honestly don't know what you do Wednesday. Do you throw Reimer to the wolves on Wed and see how he does? Guy hasn't played in how long. But than again, can't keep him out cause of that forever. gotta get him in there sometime - Sheppy99
Like to pick up an experienced goalie only because hey could have more confidence and push offence more |

amazing what attention to defense does for a team..
even in its sloppy ass form the leafs look better defensively this year..
not GOOD mind you, just better. |

I'm not usually a fan of running the other team's star players, but if the offender won't fight for himself, they become fair game. When Kaleta bowed out from Brown, Vanek or Miller should have had a targets on their backs. |

Probably bites us, when the Flyers finish one point behind us, in the standings and get a top 5 pick, instead of us. - PrinceLH
I think we're safe for a top 5 this year either way.
The goaltending will eventually crumble. A lot of depth on the blueline, but not so much NHL capable talent. Those two things will eventually kill us.
I think it's a lot more positive of a toilet season though. A lot of growth from young players. They look like a lot more together team already, obviously better coached, better prepared.. More confidence all around.
The lack of true talent will kill us, but there will be a lot of positives this year. |

the thing about kostka is who knows what he will look like once the rest of the league finds their legs
i like him.. and i've been reasonably impressed with how he is rolling with his chance.. but by years end.. he'll be on the bottom pairing
prefer him over komi thats for damn sure.

I'm ok with that as long as it doesn't cost us any youth. Especially not a Kadri.... |

It sounds cliche now because its been around for so long, but the instigator lets Kaleta run wild. I'm not even complaining because I know it won't change, |

he gets under the skin of the other team
draws a bunch of penalties
great on our pk unit
IMO he is an under rated 4th liner
I just wish he would drop the gloves more |
