Besides the fight talk earlier not too many mentions of hartnells play. I thought he won some nice puck battles and played decent. Any thoughts anyone???
- Stinkfitz

In my opinion, his skating/balance looks worse than usual and he's turned the puck over with regularity. He has done a decent job battling along the boards, but I think he could do even better. He didn't play at all during the lockout and he's had some knocks against him in the past for coming into camp unprepared. Who knows how much he truly trained during this extended offseason and if his regimen was rigorous enough.

I would put Hartnell, Timonen, and in the playoffs, Briere in that consistent category. Every team that is starting over and building a team is relying on potential.

Up until last season everybody hated Hartnell. Fans made fun of him and they wanted him out. We have to make the playoffs before Briere becomes consistent? This what I am talking about. This is Timonen last season. This is a short season. This is gonna be grind and we need everyone to bring it every might, not just a handful players.

Everyone hated Hartnell? Only the uninformed and un-knowledgeable fans hated Hartnell. Briere will be back shortly. I'm expecting good things from him. But his regular Season play, sometimes due to injury has been inconsistent. Team wide they have to pick it up.

No one on here knows but you can certainly jump to conclusions after back to back games this weekend in less than 24 hours.

I wasn't jumping to any conclusions...it's just something to take into consideration when evaluating his play going forward. I did not say, "Clearly, Hartnell looks out of shape and it's a direct result of his poor offseason preparation." It's certainly a possiblity given his history though. I'm not worried about Hartnell though.

I love Hartnell and I am fully aware of what he is capable of. However I feel his season can go either way.

Chicago trades a 7th rounder for goalie Henrik Karlsson, who they could have had for free last week on waivers.
