I think it would be clearly better. If you want to discuss Richards again, we can do that. Because in my opinion, last Season proved you were clearly wrong about him. So if you want to open up that can of worms, go ahead.
As far as more recent and current players, it's not too early for initial impressions of the first two games that Luke Schenn has played in a Flyers uniform. Which is what I've done.
What is too early to make any judgements on a player, and trade, or a signing, is before the player has even played a game. Which is something that you frequently do.

richards needed a change which i cited at the time. i thought he would grow from the change so i was hardly wrong about him. homer shipped out him and carter because he clearly felt that they weren't the way to a cup as lead dogs. it was a hell of a lot easier to step in behind kopitar and brown. and if you'll recall, i stated wrote at the time that giroux's emergence made richards expendable and that was dead on. revise as you see fit...

tell me you haven't made a judgement about any transaction before the player played as a flyer. everyone has, so what's the point?

btw, it appears that homer thinks one yr of lilja was just about right. he leaped into a +35, 2 yr deal so early into the FA period, i found it baffling. i wasn't alone.

That may have been a one-time thing, as Pronger's back in St Louis. He still does video work for the team from home though.

Didn't think he was the type to debase himself in front of a webcam, oh well the more you know!

Have you forgotten Edmonton?

Anyone here think a waiver claim on Anthony Stewart would be a solid idea?
- Jsaquella

I think it would be a great move for that 3rd/4th line winger... He is a decent skater, has put up decent numbers in the past, and is a big dude. I wouldnt look for him to be a offensive force, but more of a pesky in your face dude..

Dont disagree there. I am not a gamer at all. I cringe when my kids force me to play xbox or wii with them. At least they are into NHL10 and MAdden 2013 but i thought it was bad getting beat by oldest (8) but now my 4yr old beats me more then not.

Not interested in discussing Richards and Carter. I'll just add that I thought you were dead wrong about them, and still are. And I'll have nothing further to say on them. that's in the past.

Very rarely do I write off a player before he plays a game for the Flyers that was obtained in a trade. About the only time I remember doing so was when the Flyers traded a 1st round pick for Eminger. I thought it was a bad deal and he was not a good player.

btw, it appears that homer thinks one yr of lilja was just about right. he leaped into a +35, 2 yr deal so early into the FA period, i found it baffling. i wasn't alone.

You're ignoring the circumstances that have changed since then. Do you think that if Pronger didn't get hurt, that the Flyers would have signed Foster? And that if Pronger didn't get hurt, Lilja would still be on the team as a part time 6/7 defenseman. The Flyers felt they needed a PP point man. Lilja is still a capable veteran depth defenseman.

Absolutely. Coburn has a lot of obvious tools. Very good skater, especially for his size, which stands out.

I have seen a few things I liked from Schenn over the two games. He made a very nice read and pinch in the Pittsburgh game to extend offensive zone time for the Flyers during the third period. He's willing to do the hard work physically.

In fact I feel a lot of his troubles in the past came from being overaggressive. Scott Stevens had the same troubles when he was a young defenseman in Washington. Now, I am not saying Schenn will be Stevens, who as a younger player had a really good offensive game that Schenn will likely never match. But I am saying a lot of stay at home, physical young defensemen will err on the side of being aggressive than stepping back

- Jsaquella

i see two issues that need improvement from his exp in TOR-
1) his avg mobility makes it xtra critical for his positioning to be sound

2) his decision making must improve

we'll see how it goes

Flyers would have to trade someone. They don't have a contract spot available currently.

Can anyone explain to me how it's a good thing to have Terry Murray in the AHL coaching a totally different system than Lava in the NHL? Is this overblown? Does this make no sense to anyone else?

Don't know if this has been touched on yet, but L Schenn did nothing during the lockout. That's going to hurt his effectiveness early in the season against forwards whom have actually played the last four months.
