I hate Philly as much as I hate Al Qaeda, but i will say that losing 2 games is just that losing 2 games no more no less. In the span of the entire 48 game season those games arnt going to mean much. The flyers are going to be in the playoffs and im sure that the pens will end up playing you jerks at some point. I love the fact that we beat you on your opening night, and i know your going to come back with "yeah well we beat you in the playoffs last year". The fun thing is when we beat you in the playoffs we went on to win the Stanley Cup. With that (dinosaur turnover machine slow as frozen mud) Grossman, and (frail elf looking 5 years past his expiration date) Timonen anchoring your blue line you are in worlds of trouble this year. Its not your creepy goalie that is going to lose games for you this year.

Not sure about that. Bogo put up 30 points in 65 games last year. That's pretty solid. Not saying points is all that matters of course.

I look at it this way, would Winnipeg trade Bogosian for L. Schenn. I think we all know the answer to that question.

- PLindbergh31

Bogosian started coming on last Season. Seeing that we could use a puck moving defenseman, we would make the trade. But I doubt Winnipeg would.

One aspect of his game I particularly like is the lack of formatting. There's no flow, no paragraphs or anything. It's a big uncomfortable block of text punching you right in the brain.

Luke Schenn as a 20/21 year old player was a top defenseman for Toronto, including being their top PK defenseman. he has shown the same glimpses of being a top player as a defenseman, that JVR has as a Forward. Even more so, because Schenn showed it for a longer period of time.

OK...I like a shut-down d-man. To be honest it was your comment that his positional play needs work that concerned me. If he's not a fast guy, or an offensively gifted defenseman, then his positional play ("hockey IQ"?) must be where he excells. If his positional play is a problem...what's his upside? I'm not in panic-mode over his play or this team's play. The season is young and so is the team.

What you didnt like the clever "(dinosaur turnover machine slow as frozen mud)" comment??? That reminds me of something my 8 yr old would come up with. You kind of laugh not to hurt his feelings.

Do you know how rare it is for a defenseman that young to excel at positional play and reading and anticipating plays at the NHL level at that age? You look and see how he played as a young player against he peers. There is a learning curve for all young defenseman. And it happens over time. Luke Schenn was drafted for his physical skills and intangibles. His development will come over time. Flyers are getting him at the right time. He isn't a guarantee. But like I said if he grows and improves in some areas, the Flyers will have a very good NHL shutdown defenseman. If he doesn't, then he'll be an average players at best. They traded struggling potential for struggling potential.

Two huge wins to start for sure. But much like how you shouldn't get too down after 2 games, we shouldn't get too high.
- canadianpenfan

Agreed. But in a short season every win and loss will be magnified.

Definitely a game that could have gone either way, and at least one goal you should've had in your pocket. Execution on both sides I think showed the impact of a six-day camp, Sabres passing for the most part was not crisp and there were some poor penalties on the orange side.

All that said I had a blast yesterday and can't wait for the next round.

Oh, and Buffalo trolls, cut it out. I ban people for that stuff on the Blo threads.

Ott, while being one of the biggest douches in the NHL, is a nice addition. Sabres could be a solid playoff team this year. I like their mix.

We needed a giant douche, frankly. Or at least one that was terrible to play against, vs terrible to play with. I'd say that was the thinking with that trade, and so far hard to argue.

I'm not worried about you all, either. Too much talent and Lavas too good a coach, they'll figure it out.
