First disallowed goal was garbage, might have been slight bumping but not enough to call goalie interference. I was pissed when they said that Miller embellished the contact, I didn't see any of that.
Cody's goal was clean, no kicking motion, he was trying to stop so you can't say he interfered with the goalie. I don't know why the official said anything about the puck hitting the stick but it did for whatever it is worth. It was lucky but legit.
Second disallowed goal for the flyers they can't really complain about, the ref blew the play dead. He didn't see the puck and thought it was covered. Should he have had a better position to see the puck? Maybe. But those calls happen for all teams throughout the season.
I was a little weirded with the minors to Myers and Hartnell in the third that brought on the 4-on-4. I think it mostly had to do with the scrum after the play.
Kudos to Stafford for fighting, Vanek had a good game but blew 1 or 2 plays defensively. Typical Vanek, but he really got better as the game went on.
Good game overall, probably should have been 5-3 Sabres because of that first disallowed goal.

If there is one thing we Sabres fans can take from this game and what was said in the locker room following this game by the players.
This team will be tough and tougher to play against and that was obvious today.
Stafford and other players including Miller mentioning the team toughness thing and Staff even quoted said "I never said I dont like fighting", while talking about his fight with Hartnell. Said he wanted NO props for it, was "something that had to be done" !
This team is going to be tough to play against for sure when you have guys like Staff saying and doing what he is doing.
Staff doubled his hit output last season from any previous seasons which is something that I am sure that had gone unnoticed by most. Staff is wearing that A well!!!

I know it's the first game and I'm glad we won and our PP was good but, I'm a little nervous about not scoring a goal 5 on 5.
Positives:
Ehrhoff and Sulzer were the lockdown pair.
Stafford sticking up for Ennis against that ginger pansy.
Vanek. Hodgson. Pominville.
Ott. Hecht. Marcus going after Schenn early.
Negatives:
57 has to be way better. He was a train wreck until the third.
Leopold and Regehr look 90 years old. Not combined. Each.
No 4th line. In a 48 game season, going to need some minutes there.

I keep saying that about 57 and most say i'm crazy, I bet Leo is the first to go. Makes me wonder when the next time we see Stafford again

I agree with all of your points here, I think Leo was awful today.

Loved what Staff did today that goes a long ways on a team. Ott is literally a wrecking ball with good hands love his tenacity. 26-19-29 what can you say they were all awesome today.
