The cap hit itself was good. The only thing I'd say was overdone, would be the term.
3-4 years would have been good, but for the next half decade we're on the hook, and his health is always a question.
Then again, lads, remember, for those of you barking at this deal(UG) because he's only got 60 points once in his career, look at the deal we just gave Grabovski.
5.5 per for 5 years. And in the 2 years leading up to the deal he recorded 51 and 58 points, respectively.
My money's on Mac being moved near the season's end, with his deal expiring, and the fact that he's not a carlyle type player, it might be best to get something for him.
Also, we need to clear up one more roster spot in order to get Frattin playing. - AngryWhiteMale
Agree. His salary, points and intagibles arent the issue for me. Just term. 2-3 years would have been perfect.
Mac and Komi have to go if we have any prayer of improving this club through free agency this summer. With teams needing to get under the cap, it would be wise to have a decent budget to work with. |

if he was still missing time due to his back i'd say there is an argument there.. but apparantley an infection he got which set his recoup time back what.. two years? is the same as a separated shoulder - Dozzer

Only one game in, but kind of regretting take Schneider over Rask in fantasy now. Not sold on Vancouver being legit unless they get healthy. |

That was my line too.
In order for us to resign him it'd be in the 5-5.5 range. I like Grabs too, but with the wild style of play, you'd have to think it won't be long before he gets his knee clipped and rips it to shreds, or crashes head-first into the boards and gets his bell rung.
I don't think Grabs stays healthy forever - AngryWhiteMale
H. sedin cap hit=6.1mill

That's a lot of dough for a guy that needs a great supporting cast to be productive.
Toronto has to re-sign Kessel now.... or just sign Ryan, Getzlaf and Perry as planned |

so get a 1 goal lead in the third and don't go for more is what your essentially saying?
That's not smart against Pens, flyers, rangers. etc etc - Cherry--Skoal
it wasnt against either of those teams though, it was against montreal. A team with very little offense ability and needed the leafs to make a big mistake to have an opportunity to tie the game. The Leafs didn't make that mistake and picked up the win. |

Sedin took a home town discount to re-sing in vancouver
St.Louis is 40 years old
Zetterberg also took a home town discount to stay in Detroit.
Impossible to compare Lupul to these contracts. |

I agree with that. The way I remember it is Lupul was out because of an infection, not the original back injury. He missed extra time because of the infection. Hardly seems like a guy that has recurring injury problems |

Lupul is healthy now. Therefore we can ignore the evidence of the past 5 years and assume he will never get hurt like he has always gotten because he is healthy now. |
