The money angle raised by Custance’s source is an interesting one. The Friedman article with the Murray quotes supports the notion that Anaheim isn’t entirely happy with the new CBA, and if they feel like running a team on the cheap they only need to spend to a $44 million floor next season. They already have roughly $35 million committed (the total’s actually slightly less since rookie bonuses don’t count against floor calculations, but it’s in that range) next season, and that’s before they fill six forward slots and two spots on the blue line. Hypothetically, they could send away both Perry and Getzlaf and still make the floor without much effort.

Don't know but I can tell you with the Marlies they punished players in front of the net and hit people along the boards and open ice, who knows here but they were very effective as a tandem with the Marlies.
