Never said they would. Tons of elite NHLers werent drafted 1st or 2nd overall. Do you really need examples?

The point is that they were drafted, and they were drafted using 1st round picks.

Another post for page 23.. yes we do need to see the players that are on the top lines.. that were drafted in the first round...

They should have only kept Lupul if the playoffs were possible this year. Dont sign him until you know that. If the playoffs are not likely, trade him for future pieces.

Also from page 23... this quote from the Tool.. trade top liner for potential prospects..

Thanks Cheese I can respect your effort besides some years are loaded.... and I expect there to be a few.. but is it worth trading a top line guy for a first rounder....? That was the question.. what are your thoughts... initially I said keep your picks.. develop them.. but add to your top line guys.. build around and add the youth.. What's your take?

I don't mind it. What was he at prior? 4.5ish? It's a risk. But it could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully, I don't see any problems he has caused and from what the other players have said about him, he is well respected in that dressing room, you need these character guys around. Yes the term at five years is probably one year too long but I don't see it as an issue.

Of course but any player can get injured, number 87 (not comparing) is a huge risk but that is the chance you take if you feel that player is important to your franchise.
