Keep the insults coming. They truly show the quality of your argument.

Even with the score only being 1-0 the oilers are being out played badly

Depends who is drafting them....Leafs seem to have a pretty dismal draft record.
Give them 3 first rounders and Detroit 1 - My money would be on Detroit walking away with the better player.

- Cooshie

they haven't drafted a good NHLer since 2004, in Franzen. Since then, only Shawn Matthias, Darren Helm, and Justin Abdelkader have played more than 80 games. They have one of the worst draft records in the league in that timeframe.

7 NHL players in the last ten drafts. Almost all of them 9 or 10 years ago.

Don't need a crystal ball to see this team is going nowhere in the next five years except in circles in the middle of the pack.

They certainly have the some really nice pieces they haven't had in long while...

What's the point of trying to reach someone who doesn't want to learn?

unpossible.

all that top end talent. played together all year tearing it up in the AHL - got the OKC Barons sitting comfortably in 10th place in their conference!

Then get more and increase your chances in that crapshoot. The rewards are worth it.

Between 1990 and 1999, there were 2,600 names called at the NHL Entry Draft.

160 were selected in the first round.
Of those 160 career players, over 81 have played more than 500 NHL games.

The total means that only 3% of first rounders play 500 games.. over a decade...

The results also vary year to year... 12% of the players beyond the first round have 500+ games..

Nope- they all suck because the Leafs didn't draft them in the top-3(it used to be top-5, but then the Leafs had a couple of picks up there, so that wasn't good enough anymore).

This is something the Leafs have never been good at doing and there isn't much to suggest that they suddenly got amazing at it recently.

As much as I would love the Leafs to somehow find amazing talent in he middle or late 1st round and in the 2nd rounds, they have never really been able to do it often enough or consistently enough to believe they can do it to the point where they can build a team around that concept.

The one thing that will help the Leafs however is getting higher picks and more picks. How do you do that? You trade guys to get more picks and odds are, you draft higher too.

- Two_For_Truth

So bring in better scouts. We're a billion dollar franchise FFS, this shouldn't be hard to do!!!

Trade all first round picks. Agreed.

Thats the best idea ive heard all night.

The game has changed a lot since then. More emphasis on youth and a lot more focus on the draft.
