A little off topic, but I just want to throw my preliminary Sochi team out there to see what you guys think

Iginla - Crosby - Neal
Tavares - Stamkos - Nash
Giroux - Toews - Perry
E. Staal - Spezza - J. Staal
X: M. Richards, Getzlaf, Bergeron

Weber - Doughty
Seabrook - Keith
M. Staal - Pietriangelo
X: Myers, Letang

Price
Ward

Bet any money Eberle will be there. Seguin could be too.

Outside of Karlsson I don't think Sweden's defence is that scary.

Enstrom, Hedman, Ohlund, Hjalmarsson, Kronwall and OEL.

It's still good, but Sweden's strengths will be in net.

If the Sedins have a good tourney they'll do well.

I also think the Russian's are far too thin on defence to deal with a team like Canada and its offence

- AngryWhiteMale

OEL and karlsson on the points is just plain godly u forgot elder, and the swedes have a tone of young kids who could make it but it will be close and Finland might make so noise to there are some quality fowards playing right now

At least 7 million per year. And that's conservative because if he wants to hit the UFA market, he can easily get that and he knows it.

Absolutely,

which is why Nonis needs to take a long hard look at Phil's long-term prognosis with this team.

If he really doesn't feel Phil will stick around then trade him while he still has a full season left on his deal this summer, that way you maximize his value.

It'd be an enormous embarassment to the Leaf's organization if we gave up what we did for Phil, then let him walk at the end of his deal, possibly never having played a playoff game for us

poop Eberle, yes, I forgot him.

Seguin I don't think makes it this time, perhaps 2018.

Kessel did look mighty dangerous last night, I thought he was easily the fastest player on the ice, and his vision just seems to be getting better. Some of the passes he made were very nice.

Yes, Edler will be on that team

We can't underestimate the Finns too. They may not have the most breathtaking stars, but they are hard-nosed, play well as a unit and historically do well when playing for their country

A guy like Del Zotto could be in the running too. A lot of things can change in just a year. One thing is for certain, their team will be sick...they could have two amazing teams.

Hypothetically,

If we end up with the 8th or 9th pick, I'd be willing to include that in a deal for Mackinnon.

8th/9th
Kessel
Bozak
??? (Something else to sweeten the pot)
________

Mackinnon
Jenner
Dansk

- AngryWhiteMale

As nice as that would be, wouldn't count on it.

That won't happen. Leafs will deal Kessel by next season's trade deadline if he isn't re-signed. But there still is ALOT of time to re-sign him. Nonis has this season, the off-season & half of next season. I truly hope Kessel re-signs.

I'm not really gonna make any conclusions until we get through BUF, PIT, NYI & NYR.

After that tough stretch we'll have a good idea of what this team is made of.

If Gardiner's back, then that will go a long way

I'm just going by what I saw last night, not to say he's going to put up 2pts per game all season lol. I was just commenting on last year, combined with what I saw last night, Kessel's passing game is definitely evolving. When he first came on the Leafs his passing game wasn't near what it is now, probably because he has more confidence in a guy like Lupul, who also has a pretty damn good shot.

Isn't that movie George in Seinfeld was freaking out over? The episode where Jerry got stuck baby sitting some drunk guy's huge dog Farfel? George wanted to see Prognosis Negative but Jerry had the dog to tend to.

It's not even a case of time left to do the deal. It has to do with projecting whether Phil wants to remain here, and what demands he makes.

Like buddy there said, 7m is probably the minimum, and I don't think that's money well spent if he'd our marquee player, and hasn't played in the playoffs once for us
