van massenhoven is typically a good ref too. but he didnt even try to get in behind the net or change the angle of his view. he blew the whistle early imo
- Dozzer

He's done that stuff for years, always late getting into position behind the net and giving quick whistles. When the game is flowing, he's very solid, but he's very slow to get in position when there's a scrum in front of the net.

That said, the Flyers lost because they played stupid, failed to execute and got out worked for stretches that were too long.

This team also refuses to play a full 60 minutes that's aggravating as hell.

fair enough, i can see that about DVM

and yeah, the flyers need to tighten up their D some.. if they can get that locked down i think you guys will break out far more fluidly. hopefully for you guys its just rust from being off too long

Not making excuses for this piss poor defensive team. But losing 2 goals is tough to swallow.
- Flyersgod

I buy one goal. But the 2nd one happens all the time. Plays get blown dead when the Ref loses sight of the puck.

i'm gonna just keep quiet here.

In the two games I've seen him play. Most of the comments I've read are unfounded. Luke Schenn's skating is adequate for the NHL.

What are you saying? Buying in to the hype. Luke Schenn certainly isn't fast. But he isn't as slow as some pretend he is.
- MJL

I have seen it With my own two eyes when watching him over the last couple years. I don't know what hype you speak of.

Yeah the Flyers got a raw deal in this one by the refs but I don't think that is why they lost the game. They could kill a penalty to save their lives. They need to get that sorted out that is for sure!

What have you seen with your own two eyes? The hype that is BS is that Luke Schenn is too slow for the NHL.

No legs at the end whatsoever. Not getting points yesterday was big. They got butt raped playing a 12 after a 3 o'clock start yesterday on the road against a team that didn't play yesterday

thing is.. other guys improve skating wise as their conditioning improves, schenn doesnt.

for your sake i hope schenn breaks that cycle this year. he can be effective.. but he needs to play a pure stay at home game, otherwise he simply doesnt have the wheels to get back into position.

not trolling here at all.. its just i have had 4 years to wait for schenn to break that cycle, and he never did.

That may be so but I'd like to have received something a little more than adequate for JVR.

I don't think Schenn needs to improve his skating to be effective. His skating is what it is. It is other things that have to improve. He's 23. There is real potential there.

I feel like the puck went in a split second before the whistle was even blown, but apparently nobody picked up on that.

Skating is but one part of his game. He has the chance to be a real good NHL defenseman.

thats what i am saying

he is young, and what he needs to do moving forward is learn to play to his strengths better. he wont take as many penalties if he positions himself better.

not saying he wont grow as a player.. but what i saw in todays game brought back alot of memories.

He did alright today. He makes a very nice first pass out of the zone. Laughton impressed me the most today. He really crushed some guy behind the net in the first period I think it was. I hope he gets more ice time and sticks this season. We are currently first in line for Seth Jones

From what I've seen, Laughton is going to be a player. And sooner rather then later.

Close enough that it should merit a review.
