Is it just me or does Kyle Okposo trip over the blue line more then any other player in the history of Hockey????

You guys just don't have enough firepower. It will be worse when 91 leaves for Canada.
- WayneZ

Not everybody is like young Mr. Parise. And firepower? The Devils are like the walking dead. both teams suck

He's signed for 4 more years after this one.

Rusty game. Not a good precursor for this season. No firepower at all. Isles since 6 pretty much nailed it. If our first line don't score, we wont win. Horrible (frank)ing shift after the Hamonic goal. The Devils goal was predictable.

Crowd was terrible. Sorry. No chanting at all. You're down a goal on opening night and not one quality chant?

Newsday's Arthur Staple reported via Twitter that Capuano has been suffering with kidney stones for the past few days.

I thought Jack looked at the lineup before the game and got sick.

what we learned:

finley and carkner - terrible idea, whoever paired those two together did it while trying to suppress giggles

aucoin - power play time and the extra skater under a minute to go? seriously?

strait - liked him, simple, mobile, doesn't make stupid mistakes

MM JT and KO looked like they'd never played together before

what pissed me off:

it's 3 minutes to go on opening night with a packed crowd down a goal and after 113 days of a lockout and you show urgency by icing the puck twice and getting how many shots on goal? what? ZERO

Boyes looked like he might have a shot at contributing...on the third line.

Why in the world is the fourth line getting so much ice time?

So after we get a massive momentum shift by scoring a goal and tying the game, we respond with the 4th line on the next shift? FFS WAKE UP. Use the energy the team will have and put anyone else out there. I don't care that there was a power play, JT has been playing all year, put him out next shift (it was the second unit that scored) but for all that is good in this world you don't put the slugs out and give New Jersey a break.

Disgusting. Using Aucoin so much over players who had been playing in Bridgeport and who have more upside, youth, skill, drive and size was shameful to watch. Playing Finley with Carkner was hilarious, scratch him and use Hickey. At least he can skate.

The number of hard shots Brodeur had to face tonight was less than 5. That's ridiculous. I'm more pissed off than I was last season when we were shut out by Florida to open the season. This team looks substantially worse.

Yeah man. You about covered all the bases there. I'll say Aucoin was the hardest working forward, and his ice time in the third might be more of an indictment of everyone else. Agree on Strait too. It sucked with the goal against...the accidental deflection. He should have just let Nabokov stop it. But otherwise, he's exactly what you wrote.

Yeah, he was flopping all over the place. It was like there was an invisible man kicking the crap out of him the entire game.

After JT the Isles centers are just brutal. I'm losing patience with KO real quick. Even without Jack coaching seem to be a real issue with the Carkner and Finley pairing and Aucoin's playing time. The players have no fear. They know they will not be benched and the team does not make trades. I hate Isles/Devils game cause I know the Isles are going to struggle to even get shots on net.

I heard an awesome interview on the radio with Snow today. The highlight was when he said he made his decision to go there in 2001 because Wang took over the team, and that since day 1 Wang has run this club like a first class organization. I just about poop myself.

They would be lucky to win 3. This lineup is just sad. This is the type of lineup you should have if half the team was hurt.

I love how, rather then hire a good color guy, they are trying to get enough guys with the same name so he only has to learn half as many names.
