As a centre I doubt it. AV will go with Lappy after Gillis gives him a contract at the request of AV.

If they play Gaunce on the wing like he is now, maybe.

A legendary bar, indeed. Seen many great shows there. Elliott Brood shook the place to the foundation on a Monday night just over a year ago. Epic show!!!!

Yup. They manage to get some pretty awesome shows. Best place in the valley to watch live music, except for the music fests in the summer.

It's been a while since I've been there. I'll have to stop in the next time I'm back.

Schroeder has deserved a shot in the NHL for a few years now. He outplayed Hodgson the year he finally made it—politics won out in the end.

The only thing that makes me doubt whether he'll be a regular NHLer is his size. He's got all the other tools to be a successful player.

The 'Big Time Out' has been really good in the past, although it's been a bit of a flop the past two years. Saw Richie Hayward play his last gig with Little Feat at Music Fest a few years ago!!

I know. I wish my team would follow the wonderful cap management system the Leafs employ. It's worked out sooooo well for them.

You follow a poop team. Insulting other team's management system is laughable.

Then again, laughable comments from you is becoming the norm.

Piss off troll.

RIP. That must have been an awesome show.

Didn't go to Big Time Out last year, but the year before, when they had it at that farm, was a bit of a let down. It needs to be at the Village Park.

The year Sam Roberts and Mother Mother played was awesome—one of the best concert experiences I've had.

Love the Vancouver Island Music Fest. I haven't gone the last few years, but before that I went for like 10 years in a row. Free VIP pass and backstage access the drink and bathroom lineups are much smaller there.

Heard the Sheepdogs were pretty solid this past year. Never even knew they were going to be there, or else I would've made it back

Wouldn't be too surprised.

I'm more of a proponent of Gillis than a hater, but I'm starting to think Booner is on to something about AV having a bit too much say in the GM tasks...

He was probably told, seasons too short (important) to give him fair look.

I'm a big fan of Lappy. Guy is looking huge this season.

I like Gaunce, but I'm not getting my hopes up he'll be ready next season.

Booner has a point, but any gm who doesn't rely heavily on his hc opinion is done. The coach ist guy implementing te system and deciding who is going out when and who plays together. Coach has to have the players he wants make the team

Again, Barker would have been the one to send down. Cannauton, Sauve and Joslin can be the 9/10/11 for (frank) sakes. Everyone forgot about Alberts. Why cant he be the #8/9 so we can give our young players a shot? This is all BS...

I don't buy it sorry. Vandermeer was in January without a contract. Do you really believe that we should hold our centre prospect back over #9 depth on D so we dont lose these rejects to waivers when we are missing our 2nd and 3rd line C's?

There's talk about Schroeder being called up. If Gillis/AV's choice is any indication, we wont see Schroeder called up if we cant score because they wont want to lose a 8/9 D to waivers?.... it's injuries or bust and even then, we've always seen AV grab the wrong fit for the hole off the farm team...

Instead of addressing the scoring problem, AV and assistant GM Gillis just come right out and says we are not going to try and score much this season just like at the trade deadline when they said the same things about the upcoming playoffs...

- boonerbuck

Two things:

1. We all know how AV is with young players.

2. Maybe Schroeder is simply not good enough.

One is fact, the other speculation.

I agree to a point, but Gillis has to be shaking his head at some of AV's decisions.

There also needs to be some better communication, and Gillis needs to put a bit of heat on AV. Gillis is going to look like a fool if he keeps trading for and drafting players that AV refuses to use, even when the deserve the playing time.

and he's about half a million less of a cap hit than Schroeder.

I'm guessing that is what it came down to as well as waviers

MG- who do you want as your number 2 centre AV?

AV- it's a wash MG. And does it really matter, Kes will be back soon.

MG- well if you don't care, we'll keep the cheaper guy so we have more cap room at the deadline.

AV- sounds good. And at the deadline get me two more D

MG- I was thinking 3

How do you evaluate talent of rookie players? Do you have some magic formula?

Sometimes sending a player back to the AHL is a good thing. It's called player development.

Do you want Gillis to send Nonis the Handbook?
