Not to burst your bubble there Boinker but you're missing the 4th line and 3rd pairing D. Plus I could never see AV giving both Gaunce and Jensen and permanent place on the team next year.

Still, all manner of options exist to become cap compliant and we'll get it done.

- AlexF

He said that Alex. He pointed out it leaves 10 M for a 4 th line and bottom 3 D

Gaunce was +6 last night with 4 points.
Jensen has been doing very good playing against men in SEL

MG will face the decison of will it be Manny or Gaunce next year

Will it be Jensen or Booth next year. It will be interesting. Booth has a lot riding on this year and he will be missing a good chunk of it.

I thought your sensible side was was bang on. Just because all of our rookies aren't in the lineup this year doesn't mean we still don't have young players making a contribution. I would love to see Schroeder get a shot as well, but if it's only for 7 games (as Lefty and I are speculating) is it really worth it?

I am a believer of bringing in a developed young player or two every year. If you don't make changes you become the Flames.

If they have Gaunce and Jensen on the team they have to go for a top tier forward vet in the offseason. To balance the youth and vets. Gaunce is the one young player we've had were AV might actually like and trust. He's extremely good in his own end and is big. He can slot on the fourth line and that wont hinder his development.

I think he has 11 goals in his last 12 games. Gaunce is starting to heat up.

Apologies to Boinker as I missed that. But suffice it to say we will be somewhat pressed for the cap next summer and may need to exercise both buyouts and still move some pieces around. I've never seen AV go with guys so young in such large roles as 2nd line W and really have troubles seeing him have several rookies sticking with the team on the same year. The cap situation might force his hand though.

P.S I'm still recovering from the Schroeder cut He'll be back soon though. They have to give him a look this year. He's not going to develop much playing the in aHL. It's time he learns how things are done in the NHL. I thought they should have given Schroeder one game and Ebbett one and if Ebbett was the better player at least Schroeder gets soem experience and knows what he has to work on.

I agree . If Jensen can steal Booths spot it clears cap to get a partner for Kes that has Chemisty . Maybe someone like Perry?

Ya we have options for sure. I find it funny when other teams fans and media thinks the Canucks are in cap trouble but it's really not the case.

AV has lightened his stance on young guys. He read the clipping and now is defending his coaching abilities with young players. I think he will turn a new leaf.

I think Booth has to have a stellar year this year to be still on this roster next year.

I agree, but we are bringing on two young players. Kassian and Tanev . Next year hopefully three more and a longer training camp.

Christ I can't believe I was supporting AVs decision

- VANTEL

Manvanfan is right. In fact, every season this team has players on the roster that cant make any other team and we send our prospects packing. These fringe players rarely ever stay long.

In regards to Tanev, this is the 3rd season he plays on the Canucks. He's graduated.

It will cost Canucks 11 mil to buy out 16.8 Mil of capspace (2 years ) for Booth and Ballard.

I think there were some cap implications with the decision, Schroeder didn't need to clear waivers.
- LeftCoaster

Vandermeer beat out Schroeder for a forward spot and he's on a two way with no recallable waivers anymore...

I know. I don't have a problem with Schroeder not being on the team . I am not a fan .

Ballard and Tanev will more than likely be our bottom pair until Gillis pulls the trigger.

Vandemeer is an Alberts that can fight and half the cost of Schroeder.

Barker lets give him 8 games to see how he does. If he fails oh well 600 K spent . Still cheaper than JS.

Since Gaunces opportunity will be based on his defensive play, I will assume he plays at least 1 season on the Wolves first. Jensen will fit right in as a offensive player no problem imo.

Booth can (frank) off. Did it look like a big vacation for Booth or what this season? Players who didnt play at least grouped together for skates etc... Booth turned the lockout into the best time of his life... I'm sure he cant wait til the next lock out...

If Ballard has a good year and AV does not ride his ass ,he will be a tradable asset by mid season. If Lombardi can fetch a 4 th rounder then Ballard on a decent year can fetch a 3 rd.

He would have to clear waivers to be sent down though correct? Not that anyone would necessarily claim him.

I think AV/Gillis would rather have Schroeder playing games in the AHL than sitting in the press box in the NHL. Schroeder was competing with Ebbett, Ebbett won the job whether we agree with it or not. It simply reaffirms that AV is more comfortable with a guy that has NHL experience to fill in for Kesler in the short term.

EDIT - also that AV actually values what Arneil thinks...
