Can anyone tell me how this scoring system works? I'm in a pool as well.

Check out the "matchup" to see the categories. Each category counts as a point. It adds up over a week (or sometimes two at the start of the season), and the score reflects how many categories you've won at the end of the week.

Really? You don't think so?

Corsi/Relative Corsi, and qualcomp are far more advanced than simple g/a/+-, and can give an idea of what roles a player plays on the team, as well as how much the players' linemates affect his stats, and what quality of competition that player sees.

Like I said, it's not the be-all-end-all, but they serve a purpose, and are great for supplementary information, and also take into account a number of different factors (why they are called advanced) that traditional stats can't gauge.

- Fosco

Maybe it's semantics. They are certainly different stats than the traditional/historical ones. Whether they are actually 'advanced' is open to opinion and interpretation. In MLB many of the 'moneyball advances' are not used at all or very little any more. On base % has been shown to be not such a useful (overall) stat as first thought. Where did moneyball take the A's? not too far in the long run. Anyway, just my opinion on all this. The stat I truly want to see -- and it will be a very advanced stat is this one: # of Stanley Cups won by the Vancouver Canucks -- 1.

Quick's numbers... 5.06 GAA, .773 S%

He was my first pick, 8th overall!

EDIT - Booner's killing me so far!

True. But the way to do this is to fill the team with quality players. These stats are just a different way of evaluating quality players.

It's funny, I wasn't on the site for most of the day, I check in, and I'm mentioned on several pages of this thread. So, if I were trolling, I'd say you guys are eating it up.

Mentioned? You mean the pages where people replied to this bit of nonsense:

He sucks. 40ish point player in the AHL does not equate to an NHLer.

And as I've stated. You don't troll. You don't have the talent.
