Gillis is not off the hook until the canucks win a cup.

Agreed, he's accomplished some good things. But the on ice results is what we're looking for.

I wonder why they are called 'advance' stats? They are not new or advanced in any way. There's a reason certain stats are used and others ('advanced' or not) are not. Personally, I am no fan in any way of most 'advanced' stats. Not that it matters with AV here. He does it his way (for better or worse -- some might say for worse or worse) and that's that. Young players will not get much chance with AV -- as we all know -- no matter the stats.

Really? You don't think so?

Corsi/Relative Corsi, and qualcomp are far more advanced than simple g/a/+-, and can give an idea of what roles a player plays on the team, as well as how much the players' linemates affect his stats, and what quality of competition that player sees.

Like I said, it's not the be-all-end-all, but they serve a purpose, and are great for supplementary information, and also take into account a number of different factors (why they are called advanced) that traditional stats can't gauge.

Victoria, actually.

I was out with the wife at a movie, and when I got home I saw the news and cut her off halfway through an important conversation shouting "they (frank)ing re-signed Edler, Woooo!"

She was none too happy.

That's funny because the same thing almost happened in this house, my daughter and her family were over and I was checking hockey sites when I saw the signing. I turned with excitement in my face and was just about to interrupt when I saw that look on my wife's face...thought better to keep quite if I wanted any fringe benefits later.

Watching the Pitts vs Phi game, started off so intense.
Now that it's the 3rd period the boys are starting huff and puff.
I think we are going to see lots of mistakes late in games because of fatigue.

Going to make for some great 'come back' games.

I was already in the doghouse at the time, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

Mine doesn't like it on TV but loves going to the games live, she's first in line for beer and screams louder than anyone in our section for the Canucks. She's a keeper!

Hey, if I have to watch the Good Wife and eat my wifes vegan dishes, she can damn well deal with some hockey

Mine has a couple jerseys. We have only been to one canuck game together. In buffalo. She was getting pretty nervous when I got into it with a sabres fan.

Guy who are not married don't get it. I've been married now for 15 yrs. It's all about managing her expectations.

My wife's expectations are rather low.

Mine has very little interest in hockey, but she does cheer for the Canucks for my sake.

My obsession with hockey does piss her off, though, but I just tell her it's been a part of my life for much longer than she has .....which doesn't usually go over very well.

I've turned mine into a total chronic.

I'm about to go have one myself. Even made a deadly batch of brownies (Bloated style), and saved a couple for today

Ate a bit too much the other night and I ended up on the couch with a blanket wondering whether I should call an ambulance

(frank) I'm a lightweight compared to my teen years...

Yes that never goes well.
M dog(Bieksa) doesn't give a poop if my wife tells him something, just carries on. Then I get the whole "your dog this, your dog that" when I respond with he moved in before you, it never is taken to well
